Re: 1965 Sporting Motorist - England
This is a British magazine from Feb 1965. It is larger than the basic magazine and barely fits on my scanner. I wonder how much 3 shillings was worth back then ? Back then, the pound sterling was worth about US$ 2.40; there were 12 pence to a shilling and 20 shillings to a pound, or 240 pence to ...

Re: Consumer Reports 3-1966 Comparison
Typical Consumer Reports crap. I forgot how militant they were. If the car did not protect the occupants from a 230mph side-impact from a Boeing 707, it would fail their safety tests. They gave no consideration to a car's being nimble and driveable enough to AVOID an accident....neither did they ...

Re: 1965 Corsa Turbo Road Test
Brings back memories of my '65 turbo convertible. Funny, the car seemed faster than this outfit's test results show. One thing I remember vividly about this car, the traction was insane! - one could NOT spin the wheels on dry pavement. Not even a chirp. (I read in an old car magazine article - R&T ...

Re: Five 'undesirable' collector cars that have skyrocketed.
One of my pet peeves, seeing all the 1965s in the collector articles, is that almost ALL of them have the incorrect (1966-69) trunk lid lock cover in blue! If I remember rightly, the 1965 only had the Chevy logo in RED. I know both of mine were. When I see the Corvair nameplate on the trunk lid, the ...

Re: Just Saying Hello ~
Nice welcome, but you're preaching to the choir. ::-): Looks as if I found the right forum, though, as you all know your Corvairs quite extensively as well. I grew up with them, neighbors had them (the neighbor across the street had a '64 Spyder convertible) and aside from my three, my sister (seven ...

Re: Vote for Corvair of the Month APRIL 2015
When in doubt, and if the car in question is not a bow-wow - I will always vote for the 1965 model. '65 was one of those watershed years where everybody introduced new styles, new bodies, improved features, or what-have-you. I've never owned a 1965 Chrysler product, although a friend of mine in high ...

Re: Cad-kid's 65 Monza - my first Corvair
Makes me want one of my own again! Great pics, nice work. REALLY sweet work on rebuilding the 140. It must run great now. I never saw this asked or answered, though....this is a Monza, who painted the taillight cove silver? That was exclusive to Corsas in 1965. It looks great, but it keeps throwing ...

Re: '66 Corsa Turn Signal Lever Orientation?
If the hole in the column shroud for the turn-signal lever is at that degree, such that the lever is center in the hole when in the neutral position, then I guess it's normal...My two '65s had levers that were dead horizontal and the '66 was slightly lower than horizontal but not much. I've seen ...

Re: What is the age range of Corvair Fans? (POLL)
I'm a bit surprised that the greatest number of owners are in the tail end of the baby boomers, you all were just young kids when the Corvair was in production. I bet a lot of you grew up in a Corvair family! My first car in 1972 was a '65 Monza 2DR coupe, 110HP and Powerglide. Loved that car.

Just Saying Hello ~
Let's just say I'm between Corvairs. I owned three as a young man, then got married and raised a family so the toys had to be sold. I owned two Monza 2DR coupes, a 1965 and a '66, and a 1965 Corsa turbo convertible. It pained me to have to sell that one! - I'd bought it from a widowed neighbor for ...
