Re: 1968 Sprint

Hi Kevin,

Your pics are a great start to this category!

Plus, what a history your Fitch has....

I think I get a better grasp of all this information, when it's
backed-up with photos.

Thanks, Mel

Re: Add to the Yenko Stinger Title line ...DANA...

You DANA guys need to be seen, too!

Do you have any photos you can include?

Are there any detail differences from the original Yenko cars?

Re: ITALIAN CORVAIRS !!!!!!

Hey, great shots, Kevin!

I've seen some of these online before, but was never able to get back to them.

Thanks for bring them to this photo-rich site!

At the Corvair Forum, it's all about the pics!

Re: My '65 Monza Convertible project

You know the SS will never be available at any price we could afford! The size thing worked out really well. In order to fit the LM track and stay in proportion, the entire body was sized 6% larger than the original, and that oversize gave me a wheelbase of 93", which will give the car better o...

Hi Joe,

Is Dave preparing your engine?

I was so impressed by the video I saw of his car roaring around an autocross!

Re: My '65 Monza Convertible project

I shortened the platform, removing 15" and butting the sills back together, since there will be frame tubes above and below, which will bear the main loads. At 93", it's basically the same wheelbase as a Porsche 911. The floor was rusty and I needed to sit lower anyway, so it was cut away....

Re: GM Concept cars that influenced Corvair design

Thanks for the extra black and whites of these great concept cars!

Here's one of the '56 Impala in color. Too bad this was one of the cars that didn't get saved from the crusher.

Re: GM Concept cars that influenced Corvair design- Part 2

Here are the two cars as they exist these days. The hardtop is still languishing, but out of the elements at least and awaiting its full restoration. Under the front hood, the Overhead Cam V6 looks like you could start it up, it's that complete, with every last wire still in place! Here, you can see...

GM Concept cars that influenced Corvair design- Part 2

Here's a good Waldorf shot of the Lasalle II hardtop, built in 1955 along with the Biscayne. This actually was an early design study for GM's still-secret compact car development project. The name Corvair hadn't been applied to the project and it was so early that it used the regular engine-front la...

Re: New Member

Right, I've seen your shots through the VV site and marveled at them before. What a feeling it must be, to finally get your own original car back to its original condition!

BTW, your Spyderman username is one of those 'of course' situations! Perfect fit!

Re: GM Concept cars that influenced Corvair design

In the summer of 2008, the car was shown at Pebble Beach, along with many of GM's other showcars from that era. Joe got a special dispensation to show the car in this still-rough condition, since it's all part of the story. The car is now undergoing the final step of the restoration, the painting an...

Re: GM Concept cars that influenced Corvair design

If you're thinking, I haven't ever heard of this concept before, you're not alone. Unfortunately, GM had it scrapped in 1959. but the junkyard held onto the cut up body pieces, since they were fiberglass and couldn't be put in the metal scrap pile. So they languished for 30 years, until they were re...

Re: My '65 Monza Convertible project

By this point, I had decided that so much would have to be bought for the car to be 'as original', that I came at this from a different angle and decided to make it a project car, with an alternate body style. So the cutting began... http://i795.photobucket.com/albums/yy235/Intercoast-48/Corvair%20p...

Re: My '65 Monza Convertible project

It rolled so much easier with the new tires, that I was able to get it inside and up on the jackstands. I hadn't owned a Corvair since '77, so it was a real trip back in time, as I removed parts and got the body stripped down. It was originally built in Los Angeles, so it's probably less rusted than...

Re: GM Concept cars that influenced Corvair design

Here's a view of the rear, with the unique shape we've come know as the EM Corvair's. I helped out on the fiberglass portion of this restoration, here at the Chicago shop that was handling the job for Joe Bortz. The bumpers, taillights and exhaust bezels were newly made-up items since the tail had b...
