After all these years the heads have lost there Heat treat,the aluminum is very soft. Having the heads reheat treated would be the ultimate way to do the repair before you put the seats in. Worn valve guides and weak springs contribute. I just had all the seats replaced in my 140 heads,all the guide...

You need to find out what the total mechanical advance is. mark off 32 degrees on your balancer. set your static timing(at Idle with advance disconnected) rev the engine to 3000 rpm and make sure you have no more than 32. if you do you need to take your dist apart and limit the advance. Mike
