Re: Question about Steering Wheel re-work...

You may also want to try taping them up with fine line tape which you should be able to get at any body shop supply place. You can put several wraps around the wheel and the trim it down with a razor blade. Several layers should protect them from errant sanding.

Re: Are prices rising on our beloved cars?

I'm probably going to have settle for a single old car with my wife since I will never get what I've often suggested we really need, a six car garage with storage (for parts, of course) and living quarters above it. I'm just waiting for March to touch base with a prospect...a '65 Corsa 140/4 speed c...

Re: Are prices rising on our beloved cars?

@happydaze Agreed, but then nobody takes notice of a new car sitting at the lights, so I haven't quite quit the search yet. I'm used to driving not so powerful cars. The past included original Minis and a '75 MG Midget. None of which could peel the skin off of rice pudding, as we liked to say. I lov...

Re: Are prices rising on our beloved cars?

While I have put my search on hold for the winter, I have recently been toying with the idea of abandoning old cars and just buying a new Mustang convertible and driving and enjoying it every day. When you have finite funds and the prices keep rising (plus the requirement to have a daily driver as w...

Re: GULP!

As I have aged I have had less tolerance for customs, so "Ugh" is really all I would respond. Even that lovely green turbo convertible for sale on a recent thread had me wondering why the owner went with the modern side mirrors when the original style mirror is readily available. Discreet ...

Re: Copyright law & automobiles.

This kind of thing makes you wonder what the collector car market will look like in, say, thirty years (or more), when you can't make the car run because the electronics are either not available or not repairable. The TR8 guys with FI run into this problem because Triumph, in all its intelligence, s...

Re: Global warming

I like to compare the Earth to us humans. When we get ill, our bodies develop a fever to kill off the infection. I like to think that the Earth is getting a fever, to kill off an infection. The infection just happens to be us. I imagine that the planet was a pretty cool place before the advent of &q...

Re: Rare Corvair Thermostat

I resisted the urge to ask if they could supply a thermostat housing as well in the "ask a question" section.

Re: Clutch adjustment

Whichever end you are jacking (although I presume the rear) could be jacked up high enough to then have the rear wheels placed on ramps or blocks and the jack released. That way the weight is on the suspension, same as if it was sitting on the ground which should account for any sag, if any, in the ...

At the classic car auction

My buddy and I went to the Toronto Fall Classic Car Auction last night. This is a '68 Monza, 110 hp, 4 speed. According to the trim tag the colour was as original (or a close proximity). Third owner, claimed the second had the car from 1972-2013. Was pretty good looking and will be interesting to se...

New to forum

Hi all, I've just signed up after reading the forum for a few weeks. I've been a lifelong car guy, typically with British cars (Minis, MG Midget and most recently a Triumph TR8) and have been looking for a Studebaker for awhile. I grew up with them (my oldest brother has an R2 Hawk, which he has had...
