Re: temporary wheels

Same bolt pattern as most Camaro and s10 pickup among many other mid size GM 5 on 4 3/4" . Larger diameter space saver spare are great for this as they allow better access in the wheel wells. No engine is fine but, you will have an issue moving it around with no transaxle as the rear suspension does...

Re: Windshield fitment issues

It's like the whole windshield needs to be turned counter clockwise. To high in the top right. You should have seen that gap when you first set the bottom in. This is possible. If it is not centered both ways when installed you could get a gap. These are not an easy install that's for sure. I am al...

Re: Windshield fitment issues

You could try glass holding suction cups on the inside and outside and pulling sideways. if this did not work you would need to remove the assembly and re-install it making sure to have the glass totally centered (or perhaps a little to the gap side). The real problem is removal without cutting the ...

Re: Windshield fitment issues

Is this problem on both sides? You might be able to get a usable fit by shifting the glass toward this this side if only on the one side. If it gaps on both side this would not help. If the glass is from Clark's I would expect it to be the best fit there is, but, it is possible you got a bad one. Th...

Re: Windshield fitment issues

I have seen fitment issues where the rubber meets the body in the corners, but, never where the glass gapped to the weatherstrip. I would guess that you have a faulty windshield.

Re: Question on ignition timing marks

Best timing for these cars in most cases is advanced as far as possible with no ping under any driving condition. There are exceptions as some engines can be over advanced beyond good operation and still won't ping:)

Re: Best way to change a belt

I'm thinking its the ignition switch that's messed up seeing as I can take the key out no matter what position its in and when its turned to the off position the dash lights and headlights are still active the alternator was like that when I got it there's no connection on it to allow those two wir...

Re: Best way to change a belt

Interior light and headlights coming on when connected to the battery is likely an issue at the headlight switch. The interior lights are turned on by rotating the switch, the headlamps by pulling it out. It is very possible that the switch is rotated and that the knob and shaft are improperly insta...

Yeah those are simply cheap parts store wheel covers, they have nothing to do with the lugs underneath.

Re: Drivers side window pulled out of pocket

Thanks everyone i will most likely use a glass glue since it’s hidden Sent from my iPhone using Corvair Forum mobile app You must be careful to make sure that the window is high enough and even in the track to close properly after the windshield urethane dries. Best way is likely to remove the seat...

Re: Drivers side window pulled out of pocket

Clark's C772 is the fabric used to install the side glass in the channel. Windshield urethane will also work.

Re: Best way to change a belt

Hmmm post a photo of what your belt and tensioner look like and where the "body is in the way" . It should be no issue to change or tension the belt unless something is modified or bent. The belt runs under the crank pulley, up over the alternator and tensioner pulleys and around the fan pulley. The...

Re: Ignition problems

If you see no spark, replace the electronic ignition unit with standard points and condenser (the one inside the distributor) and see if it fixes it. Could just be a failed electronic ignition module. It is a good idea when running an electronic ignition to carry an extra point plate with points and...

Re: Ignition problems

Condenser on the coil does not effect the ignition or starting, it is strictly for radio interference. Perhaps if shorted or connected incorrectly it could make some issue? Disconnect the coil condenser to make sure it still doesn't start, then forget about it as your issue. Blair I have not seen ye...

My parts books and tech manuals do not show a distributor O ring.
Correct, the distributor uses a gasket not an o-ring. That leak would be a little low to get on the engine number area anyway (unless blowing there).
