Re: Smoke after long drive / Fumes in cabin

Start by removing the thermostat shrouds and inspecting for oil. The engine and shrouding should be clean , dry, and free of oil. If you see nothing then run the engine with the lower shroud still removed and see if anything becomes apparent. Common causes would be pushrod tube seals, valve cover ga...

Wagon Tailgate Emblem

Looking for a tailgate emblem for a 61-62 Station wagon. I need a nice presentable emblem that does not need re-plating to be pretty or an NOS part. This appears to be the same emblem as used on the 1961 Monza engine c

Re: Best way to change a belt

Are you sure the ignition switch is off. There are 4 positions of the switch Accessory, Off, Run, and Start. The warning lights I believe will function in accessory or run. Key turned all the way right is start (it spring releases to the left to run position, the off position is next click left and ...

Re: Muffler exhaust questions

Don't really know what to tell you with non stock stuff. The exhaust is best secured using the muffler not the tail pipe...the stock setups securely mounts the mufflers so there is minimal tendency to try to twist downward . Mounted angle on stock mufflers is around between 45 degrees-ish and vertic...

Check that oil pressure sending unit first.
Good plan that and make sure it is not simply the oil cap leaking.

Re: Rear engine oil leak

It can be removed with the engine in the car, but, as you guessed you would have to lower the rear of the powertrain enough to get clearance for removal (a significant distance down but not undoable). If you decide to do this just make sure everything that would get flexed or pulled when lowering th...

Re: Dash lights & headlights crossed?

Want to be smart? Unplug the dimmer switch wire plug. Look in at the contacts in the plug and the contacts on the dimmer switch. If you see any corrosion at all get a new switch pigtail from Clark's and install it and a new dimmer switch and forget about the common dimmer switch issues for many year...

Re: Muffler exhaust questions

What exhaust system are you installing. If it is a proper stock replacement with proper hangers you should not have to modify any mounting. Fit on the stock system is not the same left and right. Position to be as parallel as possible to the valve cover and rotated to allow a good clearance everywhe...

Re: Headlights problem

You need more than just the plastic part. You really need the pigtail with plastic part and sections of wires to splice to the harness P/N C2557 on page 99 (Dimmer switch housing and connectors). The female spade metal wire connector in the plastic plug housing is where the issue is...cleaning it is...

Re: Headlights problem

Replace the switch and splice on a new plug pigtail (Clark's sells the plug with like 8" of wire for splice in...they also have the switch but it is commonly available) and it should be good for another 50 years or more. likely not any shorts going on there with the body just a typically corroded an...
