Re: Help with a 62 / 102 4spd with a stumble
You say you you think it is rich? Do you get any black smoke when you hit full throttle? If so do you get it from both sides (might be a problem in one carb.../shrug). Rich will generally make some black smoke. If over rich is causing the problem, float level too high is most likely. If you are goin...

Re: NG seats question
The LS400 seats were really too big. Very little gap between them. I have no pics. I really like early 90's Civic seats (single side post headrests). Not too bad to fit, sit good and look good I think. I have a side rear pic here http://www.tedsautobodyinc.com/serv03.htm. Check out the old chrysler/...

Re: Another stupid NG question...
Corsa, Monza, and 500 glovebox doors are indeed different. The 500 is smooth and painted, has no emblem mounting holes in it. The Monza is just like the 500 door except it is texture-coated either silver or black depending on year and has mounting holes in the upper right to accept the monza cross e...

Re: NG seats question
Almost any seat that fits the space available can be made to fit in our cars. Some are easier than others due to the way the brackets on the seat are configured allowing for less modifications to seat and floorpan for good mounting. Every non-stock seat I have installed requires fabrication of brack...

Re: Group53
If you really must have a Group 53 battery they are getting harder and harder to find. Last one I tried to find was about 5 years ago and it took a bit, got it from an industrial supplier (they are used in som fork trucks) but the battery did not have super CCA (cold cranking amp) ratings, it seemed...

Re: New guy from Texas
Not sure I would recommend a Kelmark V8, the transaxle is weak running on the coast side of the gears. The Crown can be a tight squeeze for a tal person, altho the kit fiberglass seat/engine cover leaves a fair amount of legroom. It is just ugly as heck and not to comfortable. Check out this transax...

Re: My '64 Rampy
It is extremely difficult if not impossible to accurately price the cost of a restoration level paint job. Once the vehicle is bare metal a better idea can be had but even then each vehicle has its own age related problems and will require its own unique repairs. The only way to get a fair price on ...

Re: My '64 Rampy
Next will be the long drawn out process of body work. There isn't a staight panel on it. Fortunately, I also have a '61 Rampy donor with very good body parts for grafting. Know any decent and affordable body men? LOL he said affordable:) Bodywork is expensive done right (big time sink), not to ment...

Re: LM guy needs EM help
The sheet metal flaps on an early are not meant to be bent closed. Something is wrong with the thermostats or their linkage. The default failed position for the thermosat bellows is extended (doors open). Look for binding and corrosion inhibiting movement. (The thermostats can be checked in an oven....

Re: How many Corvairs have you owned?
Been playing with Corvairs since 1981. Have bought parted and resold or disposed of certainly over 75 and likely over 100 cars in that time (had some sucess finding homes for restorables). The list below represent cars I have owned repaired (at least to some extent), registered and driven. All of th...

Just a thought. Are you sure the secondary are fully closed (would make things lean). Timing/ignition can cause popping back as well.

Re: FC/EM diff
A 3.27 will work ok but might be a little slow off the line perhaps. The truck would be happier at highway speeds than with a higher ratio. I would run a 3.55 myself as a good compromise of off the line acceleration and rpms at highway speeds. I had a 62 Loadside Pickup in the late 80's. I built it ...

Re: Advice for first time Corvair owners or almost owners...
The one thing that many owners seem to not know is the need for different tire pressures in the front and rear tires. Remember that on the old bias ply tires the factory recommended pressures were around 28 rear and 14 front. Radials are perhaps a different story , however, lower tire pressure in th...
