Re: removing heads without removing engine
You can certainly remove the heads with the engine in the car. You do have to lower the motor at the rear mount a considerable amount. There is alot of stuff you must remove leaning over the rear panel as well as from underneath. Be sure to disconnect any wiring, fuel lines, linkages (clutch, accele...

Re: New Corvair van owner, ready to restore!
That having full windows is a Greenbrier. Color code should be listed on the ID tag located in the engine compartment on the rear crossmember as I recall. Windshields can be difficult to find and are generally somewhat expensive. Try local auto glass specialists, Clark's Corvair parts catalog lists ...

Re: remove glue from a cars paint
Goo Be Gone maybe (it is a product name). Different solvents can be used. There may be a specific sovent for the type of glue. The proper solvent for the type of glue is your best bet, but dont go crazy with it might hurt the paint? If it is super glue there is certainly a specific solvent sold to r...

Re: Putting letters back on after paint( Blade type loose)
These are usually anything but loose. Perhaps you need to install new metal retaining clips in the holes before inserting the letters. They are listed by Clark's Corvair Parts C721A at $12.95 a set of 13.

Welcome. The starter is located behind the left rear wheel above the left axle. It mounts on the front of the differential rear flange.

Re: first time
Without pictures it is hard to tell really what you have value wise, however, the a Corvan is not likely to bring alot of money unrestored (or restored for that matter). I would bet that you could sell the whole thing as is for about the same money as if you put it back together. If it were put back...

Re: Lack of Power after Hard Down Shift
Start by pulling and inspecting the plugs. A compression test would not be a bad idea while the plugs are out (just in case there is a valve problem or something serious). If the plugs look bad replace them. Wires are unlikely to fail all at once. Look at the ignition and fuel systems next.

Re: LED Exterior Lighting
I am using led tail light units and led undercar lighting in my 06 Scion xB. I also have cold cathode tubes and leds under the hood lighting the engine bay as well as led cupholder lighting I installed. I have had no issues with any of these lights being exposed etc. A couple pics: http://img137.ima...

Re: Rampside Color Schemes - suggestions
I was just thumbing through the current issue of Super Chevy magazine, and there's a picture of a red rampy with white coves at a show in Arizona. I have to say it's a pretty fetching color on a rampside. Around these parts red with a white cove tho fetching is way too common. I had a 62 Loadside i...

You need to use the input shaft from the 62 is all.Scott Howey wrote:You have an issue if you try to use the 62 trans in a 64 motor. The splines are different.
That's why I asked if you were swapping tranny's earlier.

Re: ENGINE SWAP
Hmmm Some data I do not see here. Is the 62 a stick (4 speed prefered) or an automatic? (never offered with a turbo and likely not a good choice). If that was a silly question I am sorry but I had to ask. The clutch and stick shift linkages have no relation to the engine and will function as is. The...

Re: LS1/C5 transaxle swap?
A guy here in Atlanta (Ken Arnold) has done something like this. He used a corvette trans with no driveshaft and a 327. Worked out awesome. Mounting was relatively easy, he fabbed a few brackets. His is one sweet Ramp. Here is a link to photos of the build: http://www.corvaircorsa.com/arnold01.html
