Re: Honda B20 turbo in corvair

Figured id let everybody know that the car is still kicking! a good friend who is a professional photographer offered to snap a few photos. They turned out awesome, and probably make the car look better than it does in person. ( not that i'm complaining) In other news, i think in the long run, i wou...

Re: VAGABOND RAMPSIDE STEERING

i cant help you much with the bushings, but i can with the rack and pinion. on my 66 corsa i used a Dodge Intrepid rack, with a swedge tube tie rods, and a few (easy to make) adapter pieces. it was probably 300$ ish total in parts, and once of the best upgrades i ever did. Welding skills required

Re: 65 disk brake and drop kit project

not sure about the drop spindle, but its not hard to make caliper brackets for disk brakes,, I was able to make C4 corvette rotors, calipers, and pads work, which stop very very well

Re: Honda B20 turbo in corvair

Thanks, ill get some picture up of the new setup, The rack works very well, (i just realized its been a year since install) I had to make some refinements to the tie rods, However this means everybody else gets to learn from my mistakes ill pick the front end up, and get some more pictures of it for...

Re: Electric engine fans

hey guys, just googling around, and to me the 25hp loss sounds like it could very easily be an understatement as to how much power is actually lost Although not a direct comparison, here is a test of more traditional fans on an engine dyno. There 18 inch mechanical fan pulled 30hp from the engine, a...

Re: Honda B20 turbo in corvair

my car did have the weights, but i removed them a long time ago, I think the stiffer suspension made any effect the weight had negligible. The power is very usable, Currently i am running an open diff, and in a straight line with either the 3.55, or 3.27 gear ratios the car just squat and goes. you ...

Re: Honda B20 turbo in corvair

Since its been a few months since ive updated here, i figured i should, to start, the gearbox issues are now resolved, ive put around 2k miles on the newest differential with no issues. This is far better than before. Now onto other parts of the car One of these parts, is starting to get the chassis...

Re: First Nissian SR20 (Na to turbo)powered Corvair

Also, on my honda powered vair, i ended up putting the rad where the back seat is, and making an underscoop in the floorpan. It works as both heater, and rad.

Re: Honda B20 turbo in corvair

Main reasons were price, and weight and H engine is heavier than a b series,, I also think the B series has a better aftermarket. And this sub 60k miles JDM b20 was 300$ including shipped to my door. Other news, the steering rack feels awesome, the car really inspires confidence now though the bends...

Re: Honda B20 turbo in corvair

its a clearance issue, and the kinks look alot worse in the photos, than they actully are. (bad angle) the rack is all in and working now, it ends up being 1.8-2 turns lock to lock. the steering is also lighter due to less resistance. and MUCH less steering slop. Also, cool thing about this rack, Th...

Re: Honda B20 turbo in corvair

Car is still running great, i put around 7000 miles on it this summer, and cant wait to do some more! I think i have the motor set up to a "sweet spot" now, where its making about the max it can reliably on a stock block. Maybe next year ill build the engine and turn the boost up! However,...

Rear differential frustration

Some of you may be following my honda swapped corvair, Sadly i progress has been stunted as i am trying to deal with differential issues this summer Here is how it has seamed to happen every time. I set up a new ring and pinion inside the old diff housing, Shim, everything to spec, check wear patter...
