Re: Engine sealer

So my engine build is going along really well so far, I have ordered all new gaskets from Clarks and all my gasket surfaces are clean, dry and undamaged. I am wondering if I need to use a sealer on any or all of the new gaskets while building the engine. I have surfed the web and have some mixed rev...

Great job o the restoration I really enjoy watching your car come together. Where did you get the sound deadening material from? has it started to peel or fall from roof yet? Keep us posted and happy building.

Finding true TDC

I have another question about positive stop method. The numbers I am getting on my degree wheel are 52 one way and 57 the other way, should these numbers be even? or do I divide them and the middle point is true TDC?

Re: Engine build problem

Everything checked out well, I found out that I put the rod cap on backwards (late night). Things are much smoother now, I have another question about positive stop method. The numbers I am getting are 52 one way and 57 the other way, should these numbers be even or do I divide them and the middle p...

Engine build problem

Hey guys I have watched Dave Motorheads video several times about finding TDC using the positive stop method. When I assembled my block with crank and cam it turned quite freely (specced out well), I have now put number one piston (with new rings gapped at .018 and.019) on to do TDC check and I can ...

Quick question about engine paint?

Hey guys I have spent about an hour and a half per cylinder defraging and cleaning up each jug. I know each layer of paint keeps heat in for our air cooled engines, I have found that after all the man hours I would like to protect the jugs even though you can't see them when the engine is complete. ...

Re: Random Guy Poll

Hey Brad I like your post, I have several friends and coworkers that have never heard of such a car as the Corvair. I enjoy educating them on Corvair history and the fact that if Chevrolet continued the line it would far surpass what is available or offered in the Porsche and VW line up today. We ow...

Nice detective work on the origin of your vair, thought it may be Canadian built because or the red bowtie. Good luck and keep us all posted on your progress.

Re: Clark's Corvair Parts

I have ordered many parts from Clarks and have yet to have even the slightest mistake or understanding. I like how thorough, knowledgeable, fast and reliable they have been on my many orders. I find Clarks and this form are true assets to the Corvair community and I really hope things never change, ...

I have heard this several times "Those are the cars that always leak oil everywhere" my reply "not since the 70's when new seal technologies came out" their reply, deer in headlights look and crickets chirping. :whoa:

Re: What ELSE do you drive?

I bought my wife this 2013 Toyota Venza and it had three minor accidents in a year and a half, then she admitted she could not see the front end and could not drive it. I then bought her a 2012 escape after test driving every car on the planet she found this was the best car suited to her. I was a l...

Yeah I like the whole American art deco theme from the 60's, truly age appropriate.
