Can't Get My '68 Started
I have a '68 Monza that I normally drive about two days a week but recently it has sat around in the driveway for about a month and when I went to take it out to get it washed, I couldn't get it started. It revs and revs but I can't get it to run! The only thing I succeed in doing is to flood it. An...

LM Corvair on Season Two premiere of "FARGO"
Anyone watch "FARGO" last night? A LM Corvair plays VERY prominently in the story and on-screen! Pretty cool!

Re: Need Corvair Mechanic desperately in Burbank Ca. area
Hi guys I'm in desperate need of a mechanic that works on Corvairs in the Burbank Ca. area. I was working Dave with mobile Corvairs but he has been recovering from an illness and it will a long time before he is back in action. I have visited many of the mechanics in the area that work on vintage c...

Re: New to the site
I also bought a 68 convertible last year and I'm wondering what, if any, rust issues you encountered after stripping the car. I hear these particular models suffered from similar problems in that department due to drainage issues, just wondering if you discovered any and where the rust problems are.

Re: Real cars!
I agree with your sentiments about modern cars, no argument there regarding lack of style, especially the interiors, but how are the auto unions responsible for this???The blame certainly is on the auto COMPANIES - their designers and, of course, their bean-counters, as well as all of the government...

Steering Wheel Seems Off
So I bought a steering wheel for my '68 Monza vert. I thought originally it was in pretty decent shape, some minor cracks that I could fix then give it a new paint job, plus the chrome on it was in great shape as well but I noticed that it seemed "lopsided", for lack of a better term, or j...

Re: No Spark
Well, on recommendation, I drove it around the neighborhood for about 20 minutes and sure enough, the rattling stopped and hasn't come back, so thanks for everyone's recommendations out there. Also took it to my mechanic for a once-over and with a little carb cleaning and adjustments it's running sm...

Re: No Spark
It appears, from some of the feedback I've been getting out there is that it possibly may be a lifter or lifters (?) and that if I just take her out for a ride around the neighborhood for a few minutes, the noise should go away. I'll give it a try and see what happens but I'm still open to other tho...

Re: No Spark
Well I took a shot at the problem being the coil as was suggested and sure enough she started up like a snap - NOW -the problem is that the engine is making a horrible rattling sound and I'm wondering if it's possibly from a park plug wire not making a good connection as I did remove one when I was ...

No Spark
Been running down a short list of things to check since my LM died in traffic last week. The engine turns over but won't start. Checked for loose wiring but everything seems good, installed a new battery and then yesterday checked to see if I'm getting a spark from the plugs so I tested one against a...

Re: Stuck In Traffic
So here's the update- after checking on the gas level in the tank and checking the distributor, checking the electronic ignition, checking for loose wires and charging the battery just for the heck of it, I went out to the driveway to try and turn the Engine over again before I was going to get into...

Re: Stuck In Traffic
It does if the gauge is correct. :dontknow: I would start by being sure there is gas in the tank & the gauge is correct. Then check for spark at the plugs. You could also have a bad condenser, if you don't have electronic ignition. Many things to check, like the main wiring harness in the engin...

Re: Stuck In Traffic
You say right after it died you got no response, nothing during an attempt to start but then after the tow it would at least crank? Please be very detailed in your reporting and give us an update. The first problem could just be a random starter issue. Now that it is home, if the engine will crank ...

Stuck In Traffic
Was driving my '68 home from work yesterday when I just got through a busy Los Angeles area intersection when the car just shut-off - dead quiet - stopped running! I tried to turn her over again but got NO response of any kind so thankfully I was able to push her over curb-side and out of traffic. I...
