Re: Valve lifter question...

I would just hot adjust the one making noise. Some people say snug it up until it quits clicking then add 1/4 turn others say 1/2 turn. I did mine a half turn but they are old.

Re: Position of the speedometer cable on an EM.

Like I said I couldn't remember what gear the shift lever said but I have had mine out & reinstalled 3 times & never had a problem with the fork not catching the ball. Here is a photo of my 64 lever position in reverse.

Re: Position of the speedometer cable on an EM.

Did you disconnect the linkage? If you do the lever will come counter clockwise down then you put the cable in & turn the lever clockwise to where the linkage will line up with the holes but then pull on the cable to see if the fork caught the ball. "Put the shift lever in reverse first I think" can...

Re: How to fix a sticky accelerator petal? Please help

Rust is usually the problem, I circled the area that needs cleaning/derusting. You need to remove the cover under the carpet. You might get by with some WD-40 or PB-Blaster but it should be taken apart, cleaned good and see what condition the plastic bushings are in. If I could do it anyone can. :tu...

Re: Powerglide

Sounds like the float needle valve it stuck closed. Did you spray starting fluid in that carb???? If you did it should have bumped the RPM's up. How about the plugs on that bank?? Wet, dry???????? When you take that carb apart watch the float to see if it is stuck up.

Re: gas pedal

If I were you I would give Clark's a call buy I think it's just like lug bolts, they just make the grooves when tightened down. Kinda hard to press it on and have the correct position, you just line things up & tighten the nut.

Re: Powerglide TC bushing\seal leak.

I had the same problem with the 64 I bought 4 years ago. I also have a local trans shop that works on Corvair's & last year I was told the TC hub was worn so I got a TC for the same price & a new seal & it hasn't leaked for over a year now. The guy also cleaned out the plugged up vent. I think your ...

Re: Electrical Gremlins

Here is a photo of how it's wired at the motor & pump, some that say black might be dark blue but it's easy to figure because there is one double plug that goes in the middle. If you have them wired correct then it's gremlins.
