Re: Candidates for CORSA Director

Just casted my ballot for Western Division. I won't say who I voted for but I will say it isn't the person that screwed up the other forum. Go Dave!

Re: Water Jackets For Turbocharging

For big turbocharging you also need a way to keep the case together and heads from lifting under high boost conditions. There were once ARP case bolts and head studs available but not anymore. Maybe you could get custom ones made.

Re: 65 differential

There is no way to adjust the play in the axle stubs. The side adjusters are to set the position of the carrier in relationship to the pinion and they get preload set on the bearings so there should be zero play there. I would not recommend just tightening them up if you don't know what you're doing...

Re: Negative Camber/Urethane Bushings

Sounds like you have the wrong bushings. Without showing us exactly what you have we are all speculating. My advice...buy rebuilt rods or get the correct bushings from a corvair vendor. But it sounds to me like whatever you have is not meant to be used with the special washers which is fine as long ...

Re: Corvair Engine Mods

Do you have a dyno sheet? 600+ hp corvair motor I find pretty unbelievable. Not saying it isn't possible but I've never heard of one making that much power. How do you keep the case from grenading? I can't imagine being able to use that much power for more than very short bursts without overheating....

Re: Bog / Hesitation off Idle - 65 Corsa Turbo

If the turbo is seized it will certainly cause problems with acceleration. You should be able to easily turn the wheels with the housings on. If you try to spin it, it should spin about a turn or turn and a half. With the exhaust housing off you will not be able to spin the wheels easily. I would st...

A loose fan belt that is slipping can cause overheating. Probably not your issue but one more thing to check.

Re: weber jetting / turbo

Jetting depends on the size of the choke tubes and what emulsion tubes you have. 50f8 is a good starting point for idle jets. My recommendation is to buy an assortment of main jets, air correctors, and idle jets. It's not going to be cheap and you will get frustrated. They are not the easiest to tun...

Re: 65 Corsa steering box

Straight gear oil should not be used in a corvair gear box, it will leak out. Any good 00 grease will do.

Maybe your turbo is seized. Do you see the boost gauge needle move to the positive side of 0 when you have it floored?

Yeah, July 3. Might be low attendance because of the 4th but I'll be there. If not July, then perhaps August. The September meeting is held at Beaches cruise in at PIR every year on the first Wednesday where we get a special parking area right up under the trees in the front. Usually around 30-40 co...

Re: Please help diagnose yoke interference

Are you sure you got the side adjuster the right number of turns in? To me it looks like it needs to be screwed in more. The adjuster should not be that far out. Did you check the gear pattern on the pinion when putting the diff back together? If that is incorrect then you're going to have issues do...

Re: Lower control arm bushing

The chances of two bad bushings from Clark's is pretty low. I've used their bushings and never had a problem. How did you install them? Looks like the inner sleeves are missing but can't tell exactly from the pic.
