I don't have the crank case vent worked out yet. The filters are from California Corvairs. The engine cover has 2x4...

Re: What to do with 69 Corvair
Oh! That's a good point about CA cars with back fees. I moved to the LA area recently and Got blindsided by someone else's lapsed glregistration. Infuriating!
Good way to get parts cars though. Hadn't thought of that. Thanks!

Re: What to do with 69 Corvair
Why modify the front suspension? It's pretty good already. Quicker steering is helpful. Rack and pinion would be slick but, again, it's a Corvair and that's a lot of money to blow on something that'll never give you a good return. If you want to do big mods, switch to a water cooled engine. Sent fro...

Re: What to do with 69 Corvair
As others have mentioned, Corvairs don't bring a lot of money. Therefore, it is my opinion that the best approach with these cars is to figure out the coolest creation you can make with the parts you have, or with the parts you manage to cheaply obtain. This is basically my approach with all cheap c...

Re: Rampside / FC 140 Air Filter(s)
The modified early air cleaner looks like a pretty slick solution! I'm gonna go with some high performance air filters from California Corvairs. I'll have to raise the floor up some but I uses I can live with that. I'll also have to route my oil Breather to something. Maybe I'll route it to the cros...

Rampside / FC 140 Air Filter(s)
I recently installed my "spare" 140 motor in my Rampside. I was kinda hoping that the car air filter would fit but it doesn't quite clear the throttle linkage. (I welded a piece of linkage onto the top of a car crossover shaft.) So it seems to me that I need some other type of air filter. ...

Re: 69 140 Coupe
Honestly, it's pretty easy to get started. Just drive out and sign up at the event. It's only $35 for non-SCCA members. Make sure your battery is strapped down properly and the positive terminal is covered. No big oil leaks. Common sense safety stuff. They do a cone school and a novice course walk t...

Re: Spare Engine Progress
I like the continuity light idea. Hadn't thought of that one before. This was a motor that I had run before so I already knew that oil pressure should be good. All I did was replace head gaskets and rethread a bunch of case studs. Priming is obviously a good idea... but I'm lazy. :) Sent from my SM-...

Spare Engine Progress
The spare motor is mostly assembled. I need to attach a non-ear-splitting exhaust, set it on the ground, mount all this to a transaxle, and see if I can start it. I need to find my half valve covers too so I can get the valves adjusted. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20161226/81efbf1d31e7a2970d5c70...

Maybe just sell it with a paint kit. I feel like the most popular color would be "rust."

I vote for a 4 speed. Way more fun than a power glide in my experience.

Grant find! And a pleasant surprise. Much better than buying a project that turns out to be a basket case.
