Re: SBC Spark plugs?

The only problem I've had with plugs was when the plug I was using was actually a tiny bit long. The tip of the plug would get hot and cause pinging. It was ok on short drives, stoplight to stoplight. But sustained freeway driving showed that the plug did not work. Sent from my SM-G900V using Corvai...

Re: Carb issues

You can also disable the "good" carb completely and see how the suspect carb behaves on its own. In fact, you could completely isolate that one carb so there's no chance of a vacuum leak somewhere else causing you phantom carb problems. Sent from my SM-G900V using Corvair Forum mobile app

Re: Today I drove my Corvair to...

Drove it to work. It's a bit chilly out. Only one of my window handles is installed and the rag top is a PITA so I just leave it all open for now. Car ran great! Little stumble off idle. I need to adjust the carb again. Probably because, again, it's a little chilly. http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/2...

Aha, I'll look at the one I have. I'm in the LA area.

Re: 69 140 Coupe

Thanks guys! I was hoping to get dash lights and my charging light working this week as well but I'm about out of time before the autocross race on Sunday. Guess I'll keep using a flashlight and watching my volt meter like a hawk haha.

Re: 65ish Corsa Automatic

I have a spare. No idea if it's a secondary or of it's condition. (I actually thought the secondaries and primaries were the same) What part of California are you in? I'm in Pomona.

Re: EM back seat

I'm guessing the vert cushion is smaller to make room for the convertible assembly. Is the front seat changed as well?

Re: 69 140 Coupe

I did some linkage adjusting this weekend and the car drives MUCH better now. On the way home from the car show last weekend, I started losing power. Turned out to be a set screw on my Holley carb linkage adapter. The set screw was broken so I just adjusted out a bunch of slack in the linkage and dr...

Re: Ignition 2 Conversion

I have the stock vacuum advance. I don't think the condenser matters much. It's basically for reducing electrical noise on the rest of the car's electrical system; it keeps your radio from making engine sounds.

Re: SCC ALL CORVAIR CAR SHOW - SATURDAY, SEPT 10, 2016!!

I left as they hit... 107 cars I think.

I'm happy my 69 made it. This was it's longest drive yet at 75 miles round trip.

Re: Metal on Magnetic Drain Plug

This was a large about of metal on the plug though. Maybe 1/8" thick? 3/16"? Basically the plug was holding the maximum amount of metal that it could after only 50 miles of driving. Now that I've replaced all the rod bearings, the accumulation of metal has normalized. There were certainly ...

Metal on Magnetic Drain Plug

I guess this came up in my build thread but I wanted to ask in a new topic. The engine in my 69 had fine metallic sludge on the magnetic drain plug the first two times I changed its oil; after the first 20 miles and again after another 50 miles. I also heard ticking when I got on the throttle. The t...

Re: 69 140 Coupe

Oh, I also poured the used oil through an old white shirt and didn't see any metal captured in the shirt.

Re: 69 140 Coupe

Drove the car around with new rod bearings in it about 20 miles yesterday and changed the oil. There was a small amount of shiny flecks on the magnetic drain plug. I'm 25 miles into a 50 mile test now. I'll put another 25 miles on it tonight and change the oil again. Hopefully no more shiny stuff. I...
