Re: Pipe hanging down from exhaust manifold area?

Don't see harmonic balancers. Would it benefit the car to go with the PCV system instead of the down draft pipe?

Re: Pipe hanging down from exhaust manifold area?

Pulley looks stamped like the early model. ... but the head number (a bit hard to read) seems to be 3856743 (or 5856743) which would indicate a 1965-66 95HP, correct? So most likely an EM 80HP engine with LM heads? It would explain the presence of the metal fan in the trunk, when I bought the car. S...

Re: Pipe hanging down from exhaust manifold area?

I am not feeling the top shroud removal tonight but I'll probably go under and try to see if those head numbers are visible. My car is 3 spd manual and the carbs were correct for the year but those are easy to swap I guess.

Re: Pipe hanging down from exhaust manifold area?

Thanks guys! Is it normal for this tube to sit there loose though? Or is it supposed to be held in place by a clamp or something? Is the hole that the tube comes out of not supposed to have a grommet? Also, is it possible that I have an older engine in my car than the year indicates? Number is T0629Z

Pipe hanging down from exhaust manifold area?

Image

I'm wondering what it's for. It moves freely. Not attached to anything. Just hanging down.

I am working on fixing an exhaust leak as all the packings were crumbling but not sure what to do with this pipe.

Re: Center consoles from other cars

Went to another scrap yard. Couldn't find anything decent but my buddy found this aftermarket one in a minivan.
Was black top with grey sides and grey sliding lid. I painted everything black to match. Paid zero dollars for it. :)

Re: Center consoles from other cars

I don't really have skills for that, although I'd love to see a pic. At the scrap yard, I've seen some Ford Ranger/Mazda B-series and Ford Windstar consoles that may have worked but they were either in poor shape or not black. Which leads me to the question - any of you know of a dye or paint that w...

Re: Center consoles from other cars

There isn't much in terms of sourcing other cars, especially modern ones.

Center consoles from other cars

I'd be interested to see some pictures if you guys used center consoles from different vehicles. I know I can buy one from Clark's or California but that will be $200 shipped while I can find something at the scrap yard for 10 bucks. So if you guys found some that look good and fit well, post them up!

Re: Seats from modern cars - straight bolt in

Fronts are from a 2003 Tiburon, rear is 2004 Galant. I was aiming for early Saturn S-series but couldn't find any with leather. Pontiac Grand Prix were there but nothing in black, all were darkish, bluish grey which I didn't like for my car. Neon seats were all cloth and had that cheapo look to them...

Re: Seats from modern cars - straight bolt in

Thanks, that's what I'm aiming for. If I have to add a couple of raisers, I'm okay with it but the goal is to use factory mounting points.

Re: Tire suggestions for MGB wheels on a Lakewood

4" is very narrow. I don't think I would put anything wider than 175 on it, maybe not even that. In which case you're pretty much stuck with 175/65r14 for popular sizes, smaller than stock in diameter. Get a 5" rim and then you'll have many more choices.

Re: Seats from modern cars - straight bolt in

As little as possible. If Achieva fits straight in, then why not? I have quite a bit of work to do on the car but it is drivable so I want to enjoy it for now and spend money and time on mechanical then body. If everything works out, I'll dedicate more time to the interior in the future. For now som...

Re: Seats from modern cars - straight bolt in

I would really love to avoid any type of fabrication. I looked at the corvairkid's site and it seems that quite a bit was done and outsourced as well. Getting the car to run well and stopping the leaks is major, other stuff not so much. I think I will start with Achieva seats, maybe spruce them up a...
