Re: '65 '500' sedan project from the dry Central Valley, CA

UPDATE: Been running car, daily driving to start, then off and on. No issues so far, and the exhaust pipe is now free of oil fouling. Much better than the worn out rings in the old 110hp. Also, got a loaner distributor, a 330 tho, from a Corvair guru friend, and been running that. It has a Pertronic...

Re: '65 '500' sedan project from the dry Central Valley, CA

Got it put in...after getting everything buttoned up and realizing that I didn't put the flex plate bolts in. UGH!!!! (I'm getting some deja vu here) backtracked, and re-assembled. Took the drill and primed the oil system. Found a leak, which I thought may be,in my oil cooler. I saw some oil in the ...

Re: '65 '500' sedan project from the dry Central Valley, CA

Out of garage, around two corners, about 20 yds. of travel...on my makeshift, leapfrog panels runway. LOL. Took about 10 mins., and she is now nestled under 'whitey', the 65 110 PG Sports Sedan, ready for install and deployment.

Re: '65 '500' sedan project from the dry Central Valley, CA

Okay...finally getting back to this rebuild swap. This morning, got all the final tin and brackets transferred, and the old beast tucked away for a teardown at a later date. The fresh 95 head rebuild is down on the transmission jack, and ready for hoisting up into the engine bay first thing tomorrow...

Re: 1966 Corsa Convertible

Also, these distributor bodies of ours are old and the bushing wears out reletively quickly. I would check your distributor shaft for play, because that is a big source of spark scatter, and will give you a miss.

Forgive me if you had already mentioned that you had a rebuilt distributor body.

Re: Early 1967 Corvair Monza 110 Repair

https://youtu.be/ibkcoS18FpY Steve, Thanks for posting those. Davemotohead makes great Corvair content videos. Connor, look up Davemotohead and see if you can get hold of one of his creations. That engine cradle is a brilliant and in my opinion a necessary item for easily and safely removing a corv...

Re: Early 1967 Corvair Monza 110 Repair

CC, I did send Connor a PM, and I will post some pics of the inner part of quarter panel this evening. I have heard that there is a cheap way to ship big items through Fastenal. A hardware company. You are kindof at their mercy for timing, but i heard its alot cheaper. Havnt tried, but you may want ...

Re: Early 1967 Corvair Monza 110 Repair

While it's outside still, anyone got a good place to find a new drivers-side quarter panel? Most of the tricks we know won't probably work, so we're in need of a new quarter panel for the side that got hit. (Also a door, but I might know where to look for that.) I have a rust free one, without batt...

joelsplace wrote: Tue May 04, 2021 2:32 pm The good thing is all you need is a new cooler cover. The only difference in the top shroud is the area with the 2 holes is cut off for the 12 plate cooler.
But you already knew that.

Re: Early 1967 Corvair Monza 110 Repair

Bucket seats, not rare at all. Others will chime in, but mid 60's GM cars shared seats and frames, so finding frames, if yours are lunch, should not be a problem. Watched your video before going here. Looks like you will probably be doing a lower front windshield sil replacement too. That was a lot ...
