Re: Honda B20 turbo in corvair

I've been following this project for quite a while now. Glad to see your alternative power working so well. Thanks for documenting it for others to see. I'm not able to see many of your photos, there is just the word "image". Very interested in your rack installation. Keep up the hot rod s...

Re: turbo to powerglide

Don't forget you'll need a check valve in the "vacuum" line to the modulator. The modulator varies shift control function by identifying load via the vacuum line, and is never meant to see positive pressure (boost) I'm sorry I don't have the p/n for that at the moment, but I know it exists...

Re: LM Hybrid? Crazy idea?

I think your concept is very interesting. Would this be similar in concept to how the 5.3L hybrid Tahoe operates? After driving a relative's hybrid Tahoe, and seeing her get 20+ MPG regularly, I've always wondered if this could be adapted to existing technology. The two things I can think of that c...

Re: '65 Monza project in the dry central valley CA

Nice metal work! If I can ask, where do you source your replacement sheet metal? I'll be needing to do that soon. I don't have any experience with the Clark's window sill replacement, but my first assignment with a shrinker/stretcher was a window sill replacement for a 70 Chevelle, and I had one mad...

Re: Cad-kid's 65 Monza - my first Corvair

Well, cad-kid, today marks 3 years since she came home and you posted her up here for everyone to see. I think you have done a fine job of researching what you wanted to do, and executing even the little projects to a nice level. I speak for myself and I see others share my feelings of seeing your p...

I think it's pretty cool Cad Kid's car was used in a reference photo in this article:

Is Art still alive? I wonder what ever happened to all of the Fitch stuff he bought? I'm only 20 minutes from there.

Very futuristic looking, neat by today's standards!

Re: Turbo Timing

Where should I start it has Pertronix, I run non-ethanol super no other mods. Thanks! After reading about all of the slipped stock harmonic balancers on various Corvair sites, I think the place I'd start would be to verify that your TDC mark on your flywheel really still does represent TDC. Once th...

Congratulations on getting all of your winter updates done. Sounds like you are in for a nice long summer of enjoyment. Bummer on the float! At least you knew it was going to be easier to take out!

Enjoy your car, love the Olds rims. I'll be on the lookout for you on the road and at shows!

Re: Electronic Power Assisted Steering on a '66 Corvair

Did you ever implement the EPAS? I'm contemplating a similar scenario for my wife's 68. The Saturn Vue from 2002 up has one of these units, but is controlled by the BCM. I'm guessing it is PWM'd or something similar related to road speed for assist input. With all of the CVT Vues in the boneyard, I'...

Re: Fuel Turbo Corvairs

To the OP, NorwayCorvair-your fuel is rated at the pump on RON (Research Octane Number), whereas in the US it is (RON+MON)/2, so it is the average of Research Octane Number and Motor Octane Number. 95 RON is comparable to US 89, and 98 RON is comparable to US 93 (Which we consider Premium Unleaded f...

Re: 65 disk brake and drop kit project

USAF_vair: I'm assuming you got to run this setup a little over the summer. How did it perform? Do the steering arms on the G-body spindles change the steering ratio? I bought the 4x4 S-10 discs to use the caliper adapter plates but also have a set of 2" drop S-10 spindles on the shelf. Any inp...

Re: Will a Manual Posi and gears fit in PG?

Thanks to you all for your input. I neglected to mention the manual is a 66, and the PG is a 68, so it sounds like the gears will swap. I will take your advice. The price is right, I don't think I can get hurt on it, and we'll give it a shot!
