Re: New Member Saying Hi
Hi and Welcome to the Corvair Forum, It is not my intention to scare you but there are a few things you need to be cautious about when potentially purchasing a Corvair sight unseen. 1: Don't take the seller's word about the overall condition of the car unless you know and trust them completely. 2: A...

Re: 1964 rear brake drum ?
As I understand it, the backing plate for the '64 is different than other years and you would need to have them for the brake drums to work properly. I don't absolutely know this for a fact since most of my experience excludes the 1964 cars. My "Experience" is only from recalling prior dis...

Re: New to Corvairs: Just purchased a 66 Corsa
Welcome to the Corvair Forum, it is nice to see you here. There is a very active club in Virginia called the Northern Virginia Corvair Club that holds regular meetings and has frequent "Tech Sessions" at member's homes in the area. This club is CORSA Chapter 220 and has a $10.00 Annual Du...

To Caraholic4life: As far as "authorization from General Motors to use the referenced names and emblems", that was obtained in writing by way of a a letter dated August 17, 1970 addressed to Mr. Richard M. Langworth, CORSA Secretary, by R.L. Siegrist, Assistant General Sales Manager, Chev...

Re: Key blanks explanation/part numbers
Ya just gotta love it when you spend a good amount of time lining things up the way you want it then the computer decides to change things and do it it's way.......Who is in charge here, the computer or it's owner? For what it is worth Frank, it looks good and is well explained. Even I could...

Re: LM Front Speaker Replacement options?
I have been considering a couple different aftermarket Speakers offered by Custom Autosound. It appears that they might work in a Late model Corvair if a single "Stereo" type Speaker is desired. One is listed as a 1966 1967 Nova Dual Voice Coil Dash Speaker With AC. It is a 5" x 7&quo...

I would think that G.M. actually owns the rights to the Name and emblem design rather than this "Organization". Furthermore, I wonder if the BoD ever actually obtained authorization from General Motors to use the referenced names and emblems that were used on the top of the line 1965 &...

Stock stud, but what is that nut? :dontknow: I also noticed the long stud stye nut. My initial thought was that the reminded me of the Poly Lock stye rocker nuts but all the components were not there. My next thought was that these were someone's idea of a "High Performance" part. I am NO...

Keep in mind that the Election Period Ends May 31, 2024 It is important to VOTE for those who will look out for the best interests of the community. The current Directors who appear to have their own personal agenda along with ego issues need to be VOTED OUT and shown the door! If you are unsure wh...

Re: Engine mystery
pulled the pushrod and lifter this evening. The pushrod was in correctly. The lifter looks really clean and smooth. I was hoping just to take it apart and clean it, but the bottom cup is pretty much permanently installed and I can't move the checkball. Checkball malfunction would explain no oil and...

Re: Engine mystery
I may be wrong but I suspect the #5 exhaust valve seat is loose. That is the reason for the 25% compression loss. 10% is allowable difference, or 11 psi from center reading.in the case. Valve seat can go back in position, but compression loss is one symptom. Lack of ipiston mpact due to limited run...
