Re: LM vs. EM Debate.

Unsafe I saw you posted this pic. This was for sale on ebay right after I bought my 65. I thought it would be a neat project to bring back to life. Does anyone know what happened to this car? That looks like a "project" all right. A little massaging on the flanks, unshrouding of the headl...

Re: Prospective Corvair Owner - Please Help

The local club may be a source for a well maintained Corvair that is for sale too. Dealers usually don't know much about any of the cars they flip, but especially so of the unique features of a Corvair. Buying from an owner with, experienced help along with you, is a better way to go.

Re: Got it!

I see a color trend going on with the Yellow/Tan combo... :tu: I like Yellow, had a '92 Pete for 17 years that was Corvette Yellow. That purchase date is cool. I bought a '66 Chevelle a few years ago that had a build date on the tag of 05A. First week of May, which is the week of my birthday. When I...

Re: 1967 monza project

Cool, glad you got it running well. That is always the most satisfying part of getting a car that doesn't run good. Once it runs and stops, it's time to go cruisin'. If you are going to paint it, consider going back to the original Granada Gold. It is a nice color and one you don't see often, unlike...

Re: Transporting an Engine

I've used U-ship a few times. You put the origin, destination and product out for bids. People looking to get gas money on a trip back or a little extra on freight can bid on it.

Re: Possible 65 Corsa - looking to buy

You need to be able to get under it and see the floor pans or take up the carpet. Any holes in the bottom of the door pillars indicates major internal issues, which you've already been introduced to. Definitely turn the engine over. With a socket/wrench at least, or a battery with the starter. The p...

Re: 1966 corsa vert, Resurrection!

its a long path, and one im still not finished with,, But the benifits are pretty awesome. the best place to start is with some reading, and looking around at EFI systems there are a ton of different ways to do it, you just need to figure out which one you like the best! Many of us in the "cla...

Re: Installing patch panel front of rear 1/4 panel, early mo

My experience with the "patch" panels is the same. They are oversized to go OVER the existing rust hole and not for direct, butt weld replacement. I've had to do the same thing with most of what I install.....cut reliefs for better curvature, remove excess width on lips/door openings, etc....

Re: Advice on possible purchase

Ok so my ipad logged me out and it lost all my previous typing - grrrrrrr. So in short - underside and interior looked good overall - but the car as a whole - eh. The corsa claim - doubtful. The rear cove was painted as we're the lower vents. The dash was black and looked painted. The fisher tag ha...

Re: Advice on possible purchase

Joe also mentioned there were a few "small blisters" under the paint along the lower windshield channel. Check close for old rust/bondo coming up. If the trim around the lower windshield doesn't fit good, it has probably been worked on. He claimed he replaced the carpet and the floor pans ...

Re: Advice on possible purchase

I have been talking to them for 3 days myself and almost bought it site-unseen on their word. They sent some poor quality pics over their phone last night and posted more in the ad today. There are a number of flags that called me off the trail. The driver door has a very uneven gap at the front and...

Re: Insuring your Corvair????

Well I did contact Hagerty's and thought 272/year was going to do it for me. Just got off the phone and they won't insure me because it is a daily driver(10miles each way to work). The search continues........ :banghead: Well, that stinks. Sorry that didn't work out for you but try Grundy. They may...

Re: Insuring your Corvair????

I recommend looking for new insurance with a specialized vintage vehicle carrier like Hagerty or Grundy. I have 4 cars insured with Hagerty with a cumulative total value of $45,000 and pay less than what you do for 1...and it's permission based, which means I can have all 4 cars on the road at the s...
