Re: Camshaft options
Just an old Geezer here speaking from experience, but making all those planned changes all at once (and some needed but unmentioned changes to go with them) is a recipe for a kludge. You'll be trying to sort out the resulting problems for a long time. In other words, basically make changes one at a ...

Re: Axle oil and trans fluid
Brad is correct for Corvairs with a MANUAL transmissions. Powerglide automatic transmissions do NOT share lube oil and therefore each will have its own different lube.

Re: Oiling System
Oil to the valve rocker box is metered thru the valve lifters. These take some time to start delivering oil and may appear not to be doing so. I think that your observations may be during this period. If the rocker box isn't getting oil at all it will soon let you know by the CHIRPING of the rockers ...

Re: Harmonic Balancer Bolt
Alec,
It's been a while, but as i remember there were several different lengths of this bolt in use. I don't know why, but it's possible that the bolt you have is too long and has bottomed in the crankshaft. As you know it should be tight against that washer.

Re: Another timing question
Hi Merrion,
Once the throttle plate opens, ported vacuum becomes the same vacuum as manifold vacuum, so the resulting vacuum for the spark advance becomes what you attributed to manifold vacuum.

Re: Another timing question
You got a lot of information but the simple answer to your question is that engine vacuum will peak at low to medium rpms and decrease as the speed and the engine load increases. So it is unlikely that you can get max vacuum advance together with max centrifugal advance.

Re: October 10 Membership Meeting
Hey Guys, I thought that we also agreed to put together a list of ideas so that we had some document to work with. And one idea that I mentioned was to contact members who just failed to renew their membership and find out why. Another idea was that with the forums available, we are allowing a free ...

Who would have retained the results of any prior surveys? The Membership Committee? The Business Office? The Board of Directors? It may be appropriate for the Membership Committee to do a survey to find out who did the survey!

Re: Increasing CORSA membership - Ideas
Back to square one Let's start with some already experienced knowledge. Let's not begin in the middle of a plan, but at the beginning Let's have a restart here. Let's begin with a list of::::: 1) what suggestions have been previously made 2) what ideas have actually been tried 3) Assessment of the ...

Re: Increasing CORSA membership - Ideas
Allan, So you are saying that this has never been done before. I wonder why? It seems like this would be about the first action to take RE: membership decrease. Why hasn't someone considered this before? Are we that far behind the curve? How many years now has the membership been decreasing and ...

Re: Increasing CORSA membership - Ideas
In trying to analyze the so-called big picture, Has anyone ever contacted those members who did NOT renew their membership and find out why? We may be able to gain some valuable information via this route. Or even be able to convince them to renew after all. It seems to me this is another starting ...

Re: Increasing CORSA membership - Ideas
Thanks Ken and Allan. Good points well taken. But concerning all those other club's membership dues, the one important thing that is missing is, are those clubs losing or gaining members via their dues policies? I.e., the amount of dues? We need to know how their dues policies are affecting their ...
