174 Cubic Inch Engine
OK.. I intro on the other forum and got 5 people that PM that they were interested, the hundred other comments was questioning safety, stock if fine, my dog is bigger than yours, I bought custom pistons for $5 each last year, etc. I ended my last statement with Corvair people are a fickle bunch, but...

Re: HEI Distributor for Corvairs
I like the idea of having more than one choice. I bought one of Seth Emerson distributors ($150) which is a pretty neat little unit. Its china made, but what isn't anymore. I was looking for a distributor for the EFI system as some might like the old school look. I took this distributor to a smart g...

Re: Honda B20 turbo in corvair
Hi Guys, The Honda B20 engine (130 HP) is mated to a PG and diff and sitting in the floor. One day I'm going to hop all over this, but I had issues with the distributor hitting and removing the air inlet at the LM engine bay. I was thinking about a van project since they need the most HP to get goin...

Re: Turbo engine care and maintenance
Great Post Miniman..... your turbo experience and expertise is always welcomed (even on that other forum!!). Bought a complete 180 Turbo last week and will be converting it to EFI later this year. I have 2 types planed, 1 to replace the YH carb and another to run dry turbo with near port injection, ...

Re: Corvair Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) Questions
Well.... scored a 180 Turbo engine today for the long awaited EFI Turbo project. I prob will not start until next year, but starting to get parts together. I have already designed two (2) models (stock w/TBI replacing the YH Carb) and a near port injection system with a dry turbo. I am still gatheri...

Re: Corvair Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) Questions
Didnt mean to shut the conversation down.... I thought we were just getting started.
Also, I had a discussion with Ed Kelly is SC about GM's attempt to put Turbo on the powerglide Corvair. Anyone have information. Understand that they had horrible off-idle ping and canned the project.

Re: Corvair Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) Questions
A word or two about reversion. From what I have read about reversion of the Corvair from mostly the Aircraft users, listening to smart people and some redneck engineering, but again... I dont have numbers, flow meters, etc to back my theories, but Tom K in Texas (american flat 6) is the most knowled...

Re: Corvair Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) Questions
Im going to jump in and give a few throughts. Some may agree, other may not. Some based on fact and others on pure dumb luck. First design was a center mount TBI but suffered from some of the same issues as the carbs, but ran pretty well. Freezing is always going to be an issue and EFI will not cure...

Re: Blow thru Turbo "Lite"
Would a T3 .50 be a good place to start since Im wanting quick spool, low RPM? If I go draw thru, would that make it much simplier? I have been toying with the 4.3 single TBI, but didnt want to fight the freezing and throttle delay you get with NA. How does a quick/regular turbo handle/improve that ...

Blow thru Turbo "Lite"
OK.... this is the situation. Ive got a twin TBI Fuel Injection 110 mated to a powerglide... (I know... powerslide, whatever). I like the powerglide as it rearly breaks and ... look Mom.... no hands shifting. Ive gotten about as much as can be gotten out of a 110 smog/PG and thinking where the weak ...

Ted's 68 Monza Vert TBI/DIS
This is my 68 Convert GM dual TBI and DIS. Its taken hundreds of hours and more money than I willing to admit in R&D to get it where it is, but well worth it. http://www.corvairnut.com/Images/TBI0809.jpg http://www.corvairnut.com/Images/IMG00163.jpg http://www.corvairnut.com/Images/Trigger2.JPG ...

Re: Fuel Injection Options
Finally got the 1227747 ECM worked out with the cold idle. I'll be the first to say its not perfect, but its so close it stinks. Still 100 times better than a carb on the best day in the best condition. I might be looking for the perfect Corvair and I just keep plugging away, but after 45K miles of ...
