EM tie rod grease nipple hitting crossmember
Completely redoing the front end on my 63 spyder. Bought all new tie rod from clarks and found that the inner tie rod grease nipple is hitting the crossmember near where the lower a arm attaches. If I remove the nipple there is just enough clearance. The old tie rod had the nipple on the side and wo...

Re: HUB CAPS
Yinz guys, Does anyone know if the poverty small hub caps will fit on 1961 wheels? the wheels are the ones with the tabs on the outside ring of the wheel itself. I tried to put these caps on but boy they would be tight, I just don't want to bang the sh t out of them to get them to work, unless I kno...

Re: Turbo Exhaust Question
Hi all. Just wondering, is there some sort of insulation or a wrap of some sort on the exhaust inlet pipe going into the turbo on a 140 HP engine? :dontknow: At least I'm assuming it's the inlet side, the single pipe that comes up through the engine cover and feeds directly into the turbo under the...

Re: It's a Chevy
I feel quite the opposite. I love when people ask me about my corvair! Then when I show them the TURBO engine in the BACK I love watching their heads explode. Lol. My wife refuses to go to garage sales with me because everyone stops us and talks for an hour about the car! Maybe the novelty will wear...

Keep us all posted on the progress.

If you just need to remove the arm, it just unscrews.

Re: hey has that thing gotta turbo
That's totally possible, but as a fellow Canadian I'd hate to think that they would do such a hack job at the factory lol! Check the distributor. If it is a proper pressure retard unit, the nipple when the vacuum hose attaches to should have a little bumped out ridge on it. A regular vacuum advance ...

Re: hey has that thing gotta turbo
Wow, that's interesting. The block definitely did not start its life as a turbo engine. Perhaps someone changed some parts and made it similar to one hence the non-factory motor ID. It is not the original engine to the car, that's for sure. I wouldn't feel comfortable running a turbo on it without k...

Re: hey has that thing gotta turbo
Hey nice car. Might want to make sure the oil lines are connected to the turbo. If your turbo is good, it won't be for long without them. Also, I don't see the oil line connector near the oil filter. I believe there should be a block that allows the sensor and oil line to be connected at the same po...

Thanks for the suggestions. @flat6: what other, if any, upgrades did you have to make to run the 20 cam?

Cam suggestions?
So I'm rebuilding my engine and I would like the forum's opinion on something. The engine is a 65-66 180 turbo. The original cam is worn. I don't care about fuel economy but I would like the motor to be dependable with maybe a bit more "oomph". I would like to stay away from extensive extr...

Re: 65-66 turbo engine specs please!
Thanks for the info! The GM heritage centre specs say that the cam lift should be .2494, while the chassis manual says the cam lift should be .260. Why the descrepancy? am I missing something? Again, this is relating to the 1965-1966 180HP engine. I checked a few lobes and I'm getting betwee...
