Re: Stud replacing
I had the same issue when I out Iroc rims on my '66. Rear studs would only engage 3-4 threads on the lug nut which wasn't enough to make me feel safe. You can drive out the old ones pretty easily with a big hammer, I threaded a lug nut on to keep the threads from getting mashed up, 2-3 whacks will p...

I would never trade a gun for a car.
That said, a "flood car" would be nothing more than a donor to me.

Re: Removing Corsa instrument panel
Check the vac gauge if you still have one in there.
Mine has a tube from engine to the gauge and will allow the panel to come out as far as yours before it hangs up.
Need to disconnect it to remove the dash.

Re: New Vair came home today!
Talked to Cotrofelds today as a matter of fact! Still going, although the guy they used for cylinder head work just recently retired and they have no replacement as of yet. I have a 140 that needs a rebuild, and had a few questions for them as some of the assy work is above my equipment and skill le...

Howdy neighbor!
I'm just a couple ridges over from you in the Champlain Valley.
Was that the one on C/L, up in Bethel by a storage unit?

Set up for pull cable throttle, and rubber hose fuel inlet.
Probably need a snowmobile throttle cable off a triple for each side, then good luck getting them synchronized.

Here's where to look: http://www.corvair.com/user-cgi/catalog.cgi?show_page=2
(middle of the page). My '66 was a greasy lump, took some cleaning of ancient grease/oil to find it.

Re: trying to remove front spring on 65
Yes, as Ted said - replace the nut! Alternative if you don't have the pickle fork is to back up one side of the spindle where the stud goes thru, and whack the opposite side with a big hammer. May take a couple of blows but the shock of the impact usually pops 'em loose. Then, remove nut and lower t...
