Detroit Homecoming Reservation Needed
Anybody happen to have reservations for the 2018 DACC Detroit Area Homecoming Comfort Inn in Plymouth that you are not going to be able to use?
I'm interested in going but hotel is sold out. If you have reservations and can't make it, I'd love to take your reservation.
Cheers

66 Convertible Rescue
Gents, Cincinnati Corvair Club rescued a 66 Convertible this weekend. A new member recently inherited the car. Some history on the car is that it is a one owner, 45K miles, 110 hp /auto, black interior & top. Car has not been on the road since 1979. One of the best rust free cars I've seen. Inte...

Front End Suspension Upgrades
Anybody have any experiences with retrofitting a corvair front suspension with something like this?
How much fabrication is required?
How does the car handle?
Looking for some feedback if anybody has some.

Re: 63 Spyder Preservation
Experimented around with removing the anodized coating this weekend. Used the EZ Off oven cleaning method. Sprayed it on heavy, let stand for 20 minutes. Lightly scrubbed it with medium soft brush. Rinsed and repeated the process. All the coating came off pretty easy. Played around with some wet san...

Re: 63 Spyder Preservation
Got a few more items done on the car this weekend. Installed Clark's reproduction 64' wheel and rocker molding trim. Installed the headlight buckets. Put some new tires put on the vintage cragar ss rims and put a rim on to see how the will look. Wheel studs are too short and some lug nuts are going ...

Re: 63 Spyder Preservation
Finally got the trunk painted over the weekend. I elected to use Clark's splatter paint which I purchased in quarts to shoot out of my spray gun. This method also eliminates the need to apply clear coat/sealer. Couple of things learned for those whom are going to be painting their trunks. 1. Clark's...

Re: Battery Charger
Basic Battery Tender has been a good one for me. I rotate it around on all my vehicles. I have no complaints with it. I have a battery in my 99 Mercedes C43 AMG that is 14 years old.

Re: 63 Spyder Preservation
I finally laid down 4 coats of base and 3 coats of clear on the body today. After 9+ months of stripping, sanding, welding, filling, priming, sanding, priming, sanding, priming and did I mention sanding.....I am ecstatic on how the body and paint has turned. Laser straight. Now a couple of days off ...

Re: 63 Spyder Preservation
Realized that I had forgotten to strip the rear seat side trim panels and gas cap. Applied aircraft stripper a couple of times. Hit them with some aluminum oxide soda blasting, Coated the back sides with POR 15 for the next 50 years of protection.
