Re: Please Help! 63 Turbo just won't run!

Just one more thought, could this be related to the resistor wire? Been a while since I went through that circuit, so I can't remember if it affects starting.

Re: Please Help! 63 Turbo just won't run!

Having just gone through something similar with the YH on my car, I have two suggestions that are worth having a look at. 1. Check your fuel pressure. If you are running a mechanical pump, there is a good chance it is way too high. Remember in BH's book it said these carbs respond well to pressures ...

Re: 1964 four door automatic project by remote

That said I suspect that GM dialed in even more total understeer than previous years with the '64. There is an article on this forum about a '64 Sprint where they added increased rate rear springs and actually removed the front sway bar. This is anecdotal evidence for sure but seems to point to the...

Re: 1964 four door automatic project by remote

Just my 2 cents, I would suggest getting a feel for the car with stock springs before delving into making changes. I agree completely that you can easily play with balance by simply adjusting front tire pressure. Also, just putting the spare in the trunk can make a difference. Pretty amazing actuall...

Re: Turbo Muffler Options

Brad, that's very interesting, can you get me to the rest of the thread that came from? I'd like to read it. I thought for a while that it was skipping every other cylinder, but that made no sense since I could easily see spark jump on every wire. But yes I am running an Ignitor I, not a II. Finally...

Re: Turbo Muffler Options

OK, thanks, I'll keep you posted. Right now I have a bigger problem. Trying to get the car running, too much work and too many checks to list, but one bank is dead. Best I can tell, the right side doesn't fire at all, and I'm running on 3 cylinders. I have no idea what's going on with it, but I've c...

Re: Turbo Muffler Options

OK, confused now, which was part of my original question. Is the inlet/outlet of the turbo muffler 2" or 2-1/2"?

I like the idea of the glass pack for 26 bucks, since i'm about to blow most of my budget on getting seats recovered.

Re: Turbo Muffler Options

What are the standard dimensions for the stock muffler? What are the inlet/outlet diameters, overall length, etc? I know Clark's has reproductions, and that would be perfect, but my budget is tight right now. I just want to know what my options are for something that will fit, and get rid of the &qu...

Turbo Muffler Options

I need to replace my stock original turbo muffler, and would prefer a lower cost alternative since money is a bit tight right now with other things needing attention. So what are the dimensions for inlet/outlet, overall, etc? Anyone have a part/model number for something that will fit without too mu...

New Seat Covers for '64

I need new seat covers on my '64 Spyder. I have the covers and foam, bought new from Clark's. I called a local guy today, he said he'd be glad to, for around $200 per seat. That's a bit rich for me right now, any ideas on what is the going rate for that work? And how hard is it to do this job yourse...

Re: going to the crusher?

I went by today, and had a look at the cars. Most (if not all) of the ones on the flier are still there. As for the parts, I know some have been sold, but the rest were not available for me to look at today. I wish I had a better answer, but I honestly have no idea how they are going to be dealt wit...

going to the crusher?

One of our members in Alabama, the Birmingham club, passed away and we are helping to deal with his collection of cars and parts. There are a LOT of parts. And, quite a few cars. Most are parts cars, but there are a few that could be restored. In particular, there is a complete Lakewood, parked many...

Re: Couple of problems - overheating and headlights in my 19

One more suggestion, you mention the car has not been driven since 2008. It is very possible that mice could have built a little home under the top cooling shroud, blocking the air flow over one of the heads or the oil cooler. If the oil pressure checks out OK, you can pull the cover over the oil co...

Re: Couple of problems - overheating and headlights in my 19

This may be simplistic, but have you checked the oil level? On my car, for some reason, when the oil reaches the "ADD" mark, it loses just enough pressure for the light to come on at times. Revving the engine makes it go out. Interestingly enough, my '94 Sonoma does the same thing. Worth a...

Clark's Oil Filters - Problem?

I am getting a parts order together for Clark's, and thought I would throw in a new oil filter. When I go to their site, I get confused. Click on the part number, and you get three possibilities: One out of production, order another instead, it says to be sure to check for possible issues. The third...
