Re: Cleaning Parts with Motohead
Love it! When I rebuilt my motor a couple months ago, I paid way too much money to have the block dipped, and spent hours blasting and cleaning the other parts, now I know a better, and safer way(for the engine and the environment :rolling: ). Will definitely be doing this for the next motor, thanks...

Re: Steering Box
It's my understanding that in 1967 they went to the 2 piece steering column, and you'd likely need the column for it all to fit. Hope this helps.

Welcome! I'm in So Cal as well, from Ventura. I have a project '66 Corsa as well. That's a nice looking coupe, looks really solid!

I usually get the "My friend/neighbor/dad used to have one I loved it!". Once got a, "Those cars explode when rear ended! I know someone who had one that exploded when he was driving."

Re: Where to buy rims?
I am still in your boat now. I was concerned about the bigger + wider wheels + steelies and decided against rally wheels. I eventually narrowed it down to minilites or daisy mags. Unable to find the backspacing I wanted, I now plan on ordering a new set of minilite wheels made from minilite themselv...

Re: New tyres
I own a '66, so it's an LM. However, I went 175/80 because I couldn't find any 185's, and I find them too small. Just my opinion.

Re: Degreeing a Camshaft Issues
Hey guys, So, using the cam card and Dave's advice, I was able to figure out the camshaft timing. After that I put the engine mostly together, with the 6 pistons all on and the oil pan on. I was going to put on the blower too, but Raffee's gasket kit was missing a few gaskets. Darn! I emailed him, h...

Re: Degreeing a Camshaft Issues
Hey all, about to degree the cam again, and clarks sent the sheet over! Just about exactly what Marty said but I figured if upload it just in case someone else needed it! In other news, does anyone know how to stop my pictures from going sideways?

Re: Degreeing a Camshaft Issues
Thank you for all the tips so far. The reason I was doing the upside down lifter was because I saw a thread about some guy building a 3.1L for an airplane. That's where I got the idea from. I'll get a used lifter I have laying around and put a bolt in it so I can measure the lift. Thanks Dave! and t...

Re: Degreeing a Camshaft Issues
I realize the readings wouldn't be perfect, I figured they would just be consistently off. But would it really make a ~17 degree difference??

Re: Degreeing a Camshaft Issues
Dave, I used your video as a reference. I bolted on one and stuck a piece of metal across the bore, and discovered my balance to be off by like two degrees. I then used a lifter upside down with a dial indicator attached to it to check for lift. When it was off, I tried moving a tooth, in order to l...

Re: Degreeing a Camshaft Issues
Here is a picture. I had it lined up well, but then put it to #1 TDC and it didnt line up with the case, nor did it degree properly. Then I moved it over one tooth so it lined up with the case, and it seems to be the wrong direction?? Its even farther off. This is with it aligned to case split. Coul...

Degreeing a Camshaft Issues
Hello, I stuck in my cam and crank today, and started to degree the cam. I went by the book on putting it in, and aligned the keyways and got the camshaft in. However, upon degreeing the cam, it seemed like I was ~17 degrees off for the first, and then it looked like it was right on for another, and...

Re: Turbo Engine Rebuild
Here is the marker I lined up with on the crankshaft:
It looks exactly like the shop manual, except I hear the 0 is incorrect on the new cam gears?- Wed Apr 29, 2015 11:06 am

Re: Turbo Engine Rebuild
Okay,my parts are in and I started assembly, I put in the bearings, and put in the crankshaft and camshaft, however I'm not sure I put it in right and wanted to post a few pictures and see if I did it correctly. Here are attached pictures of what's happened so far, did I put the cam shaft in right?
