Couldn't find anything, I swear!!

:helpsos: Sorry in advance :rolling: , I know this question has been asked about a billion times, but I've never found an exact answer. Let's say I'm going to run STOCK suspension, with HD coils and the 2 inch drop S10 spindles in the front(do these change the backspacing at all? also the ones modif...

Re: I spotted a corsa by my house

I bought a '66 turbo convertible for 2500. Didn't run, had a solid body, bad(looking, not rusty, PO replaced poorly) floors, needed everything. I considered that a good deal. May be a decent amount of money, but the time it took to find one made it well worth it. From what I've been told they only m...

Re: Project Dolly Parton - My 61 Monza coupe

Love it! Reminds my of my first drive - car sat for ~40 years, then I decided to just go on the freeway! No alignment, brakes pulled super hard to the right, but I managed to get where I was going(this was after overhauling the motor and brakes of course!) Great work, love the look of the rear wheel...

Re: Engine Runs just OK?

It's not a leak at the base, there's just no choke tubes in the exhaust housing, so there's two holes in it. Should I plug them somehow?

Re: Engine Runs just OK?

Sounds like it may a vacuum problem? The gasket is new and not torn from the carb to turbo, and the rubber house is nice and pliable. The only vacuum leak I know I have is at the base of the turbo, I have no choke tubes because I converted to electronic ignition. When I convert to a b/f turbo I pla...

Re: Engine build problem

When I built my motor, wit the pistons in it got very difficult to move, because of the pressure of the rings. I would just make sure its not binding on anything by spinning crank with no pistons, double check pistons are in the right way, and go! With all 6 of my pistons in, i could spin it by hand...

Re: Hello from "Sunny" Texas

Beautiful corvair and beautiful bronco! Like you, I enjoy cars that rust easily! (broncos, scouts, corvairs) All jokes aside, your corvair looks great! I'm sure you'll have a lot of fun with it, I do with mine and it doesn't even look good :rolling: Also, there are a few guys around here who would l...

Re: Floor Pan replacement

Also, I see you're on a budget. My cars' floors are done like you would clarks, but they just used flat pieces of metal. That could be a cheap and semi-permanent alternative to clarks' expensive pans. To dave, PM me on a price, I would like to use original sheet metal, and I'm getting my own welder ...

Re: Floor Pan replacement

I'm in the same boat as you, but not nearly as bad. I considered clarks, but my floors are rusty everywhere, and the panels don't go everywhere! I'm going to look for an entire floor pan off of a car and drill out the old ones, as I spot weld in the new ones. Hope this helps and good luck

Re: Engine Runs just OK?

Throttle shaft is nice and tight, the carb Meister put the screw in it. The linkage is all rebuilt and new, total pain in the ass but I'm sure it doesn't bind

Re: Engine Runs just OK?

Also, just thought of this. When the motor is cold, it stalls a lot. I tried adjusting the choke, but it won't fast idle. Not sure how to adjust that, but the carb was rebuild by the carbmeister a while back, so I figured it would be fine.

Engine Runs just OK?

Hey everyone, I recently rebuild the motor on my Corvair, and now it's running. Here's a list of what I did: 40 over TRW pistons moly rings STD/STD crank with new bearings otto-tb 10 cam I got it through break in, and while it's going it runs great, however it doesn't want to idle. I have it set aro...

Re: Corvair Lakewood 61 - NL

Its funny - when I saw this post, I noticed the heads were backwards, and I laughed. A few weeks later I went to finish putting my motor together, and I did the same exact thing....Love how your wagon is coming along!

Re: Today I drove my Corvair to...

I drove my car on its maiden voyage about 30 miles to a huge car show in Simi Valley, CA. First drive on the new motor, went great! Excuse the tilted picture, paint only allows 90 degree rotations, and I even forgot to take pictures, someone snapped a picture and sent it to me, knowing it was my car!

Re: Quick question about engine paint?

I did a bunch of research on this, and what I found was any ceramics in paint would stop the heat from flowing a little bit. What I did was buy the cheapest flat black paint you can buy, and sprayed a very thin coat over the barrels. After running my new engine for about ~ 100 miles, so far it has n...
