Re: Aftermarket front suspension clip
I want a more performance oriented suspension and I would like quick steering. There seems to be a shortage now of quick boxes and I would rather get away from pitman arm steering anyway. The car will be set up more for autocrossing than joyriding. I did end up bothering them and Brent was greatly h...

Aftermarket front suspension clip
Ok, so I hit up Fatman Fabrications about a Corvair front end kit. They do make a bolt in model!!!! The price is reasonable too. I have not had a chance yet to hit them up about the specifics of its design such as if it has Ackerman, anti-dive, and if it is more sport oriented, but what I do know ma...

Re: 1964 Monza Sprint - A Bear of a Corvair
I have recently thought about starting a new thread about this, but this topic seems to be inline with my query. I have a 1961 and I do have a late model front crossmember in it. I do not have the sway bar and the original spindles were retained to keep 4 lugs all the way around. I need a FULL suspe...

Re: Cold Air Intake
I too went about this idea several years ago, but then it dawned on me. The air coming in from the louvers is cold air and at speed should be filling the engine compartment pretty well with cool air. From what I understand for every three degrees cooler you can make the incoming air charge there can...

Re: High ratio rocker arms?
I am using a set of ford 1.6 ratio rockers in my engine. I believe the stock ratio is 1.4? I believe the rockers are from a small block V8

Re: Reversed Rotation 140 inquiry/advice
I don't have a rev. rotation engine but I have had a thud like knock noise internally in my engine since I have owned it. It has always sounded to me like the crankshaft rocking back and forth? Could never say for sure. It is only noticeable at idle and in 15 years of service has never gotten better...

Re: Found some wheels I like.....
Quick question while we are at it. I'm thinking of getting 16 x 7 for the front and 16 x 8 for the rear. I feel they should fit for sure in the 7", but what kind of space do you have left with your current 15 x 7's? looking to gauge what I can get away with. I have a late model front end on my ...

Re: Is it true about the corvair ?
Is it true that you can use pistons and heads off a VW if you bore the corvair block out? How do i know what heads and pistons to use on my block, and what is the HP gain from doing this? The original question was simple, we all managed to complicate it. The simple answer could be this? Yes you can...

Re: Need to remove oil pan to cut off dipstick tube
Most people will carefully remove the dipstick tube by pulling it out of it's receptacle. Cut it an inch or more and then replacing it. This is a careful task and you can render your tube useless. But it can be done without removing the oil pan.

Re: Is it true about the corvair ?
At the crank and to the wheels is not the argument. It's crank H.P that I'm talking about. I have seen enough and know enough to bet that such an engine can be built. When I was referring to things that " don't care " , I was talking of parts of the motor that don't care about the power ma...

Re: Is it true about the corvair ?
I think it could be done. They got 250 H.P out of the yenko cars. Another 50 is up there, but if yet another guy is just shy of 400 then somewhere in the middle isn't a bad crap shot. Reliability will certainly be reduced over that of a more relaxed engine. But with the mods mentioned your not reall...

Re: Is it true about the corvair ?
Yes it's true. The 3.1 litre is pretty popular these days. But it requires extensive engine reworking. The block must be sent in to get sized to the new piston barrels and the heads must also be worked on to except the barrels as well. In all it doesn't add a whole lot of power, but as the saying go...

Re: Project 25 Compression Test
Look good to me, especially if you did just a standard dry compression test. My guess is that a wet test would get you to near the 200 mark? If this a wet test, the numbers are still very good.

Re: Whole lotta shakin going on
My wonder is if your car has the riveted front hub? Mine has rivets that hold the drum to the hub. These rivets stick out and can cause the rim to not be square when bolted down. As far as I understand, it is fine to grind the rivets off? I would look into that and see before doing any other major w...

Looks good! Did they fit with no issues? I'm kicking around getting the konig rewind in the 16" with about the same dimensions as these.
