Exhaust Options

Hey guys, I want to upgrade the stock exhaust on my 67 Corvair 500, which doesn't really work anyway I always love the look of dual exhaust on classics but I want a specific kit since I have the bumper guards and want everything to look well spaced I want the pipes to look like this but even (they d...

Re: 67 Fuel line fixed!! but still no gas to carbs?? please help

The Corvair is up and running!

it seems to be a little bit of everything, clogged lines, fuel filter, and carb filters

once I corrected the fuel filter, I cleaned the lines and carb filter

It started right up after a couple cranks and runs great!

thanks for all the help guys!

Re: 67 Fuel line fixed!! but still no gas to carbs?? please help

Thanks for the breakdowns! Some progress has been made and it turned out to be a few issues, but all learning points. Were there any direction arrows on you fuel filter? I'll take my wild stab and say based on the pictures, the filter is installed backwards. The fuel filter WAS installed backwards, ...

Re: 67 Fuel line fixed!! but still no gas to carbs?? please help

Jeff, I disconnect the fuel lines at the carbs.... Nothing is flowing Perhaps it's a stuck valve in the fuel pump..or a complelely broken pump... Which is odd because it's new and worked for a few miles... I'd figure if it was faulty it would have been faulty since the beginning If I can physically ...

Re: 67 Fuel line fixed!! but still no gas to carbs?? please help

I still think you have to open the gas lines at the carbs to let the pump push the air out of the lines. If the needle valves are closed they will not allow the pump to push the air out of the lines. If there isn't any gas in the pump it won't build up much pressure but when it gets the air out it ...

Re: 67 Fuel line fixed!! but still no gas to carbs?? please help

What do you mean by properly seated? I have not touch the set bolt because I am not sure of its proper positioning. The pump bolt serves as a locating pin. If you look back at my first post in this thread there is a picture of the pump with the anchor bolt hole showing, and the pointed bolt display...

Re: 67 Fuel line fixed!! but still no gas to carbs?? please help

If the needle valves in the carbs are closed it won't pump gas to them, pour some gas in the carbs & see if it starts. Or have someone spray starting fluid into them. That's why I said open the lines at the carbs & see if the gas comes out, if you don't have gas coming out of the open line ...

Re: 67 Fuel line fixed!! but still no gas to carbs?? please help

I suppose there is a possibility of a faulty fuel filter that is permitting a vacuum leak and preventing fuel from being drawn into and past the filter. The filter may also have some directional arrows on the side. You should be sure that the filter is installed correctly, with the arrows pointing ...

Re: 67 Fuel line fixed!! but still no gas to carbs?? please help

Okay so I repaired the fuel lines, they hold pressure fine, but I'm not getting fuel to the carbs, It was working a few weeks ago then died out I have a fuel filter behind the rear drivers tire, I can phyically suck gas from the tank to where the line meets the fuel filter but when every things conn...

Re: 67 Fuel line issue for a new guy

Thanks for the responses, I will order a set of line wrenches, and those vise grips.. I’m big on having the right tools for the right job. I do not have a NAPA near me in Brooklyn, but I do have an auto zone, there tools seem cheap, I may be better off ordering some… what would be the best brand? Al...

Trying to understand my headlight issue.. 67 corvair

I have a 67 500 with P/G So I have been doing a little research and trying to tackle this on my own... it seemed like a simple issue. So one morning, during the early stages of a snow storm, I start my car, turn on the lights and they don't come on, I wiggle the switch and they come on second try, n...

I really love this car, i just want to work out the kinks so i can get it tagged The car runs a bit rough, and it gets worse as it warms up. after driving the car for a little, it struggles at stop lights or when i pull in, but only when warm. Ill have to put it in neutral and even sometime give it ...

Re: eBay 16inch iroc wheels.... Thoughts

The reason I'm considering the used set is because it comes with tires

How do I check the back spacing.. I also heard I have to purchase lugs nuts for the proper fit
