Re: 140 in a Greenbrier?
Is there any reason I can't put a 140 in a Greenbrier? The van is a '61, with a rebuilt Powerglide, stock except for a 4-spider gear upgrade, and no engine. I have a rebuilt spare stock 140 out of a '66 Corsa, and a Powerglide bellhousing from another car. Can I: • swap the bellhousing • remove the...

Re: Upper RPM issue
Was at our local club meeting the other night, and one of the guys said it sounded like the floats were too big and not letting the bowls fill properly. Which sounds logical, as it's acting like it's starving for fuel in the upper RPMs. Don't know if that will help the hot start issue, but I'll crac...

Re: Upper RPM issue
The electric pump I'm using is from a Vega. I'll set up the lead wire so I can pull it while driving, and see if that makes a difference.
Ignition is stock. Everything is adjusted per the 62-63 supplement.

Upper RPM issue
The car: 1963 700 sedan, 84/PG, 134,000 miles. Modifications from stock: Electric fuel pump mounted in tank, but stock pump is still in place. Carburetors modified with vent tubes by Ken Hand. Alternator conversion. '64-later fan. Finned oil cooler. Clark's Ultimate oil pan. Otherwise stock. Symptom...

Re: Why don't Corvairs have to "P"?
:chevy:  Whatever the reason, it is a safety concern for Powerglide-equipped Corvair owners. The aging lengthy parking brake cable has always been somewhat vulnerable to failure without warning. Owners with a manual transmission car have the option of leaving the car in gear as a backup to t...

Mad Men?
I recently got Netflix, and saw that Mad Men is one of the shows available. It's set in the 60's, so are there any Corvairs in the show? Because if there's no Corvairs, I ain't watchin'. ::-): Crime Story (Dennis Farina) is available, and I've heard there are at least a few on that show, so it's on ...

In all my years of messing with old cars, I've never seen that happen before. Congrats, Brian... sort of.

Re: He's at it AGAIN!!!
Back in the 80's, one of the local club guys had an Artesian Turquoise '65 Monza sedan. 95/PG though, not your "executive sedan" setup. ::-): He sold it to another club member who fixed it up and painted it. I can't remember if he took it with him when he moved back to Wisconsin or not, bu...

Re: 1963 700 sedan
Before leaving work tonight, I replaced the parking brake cable and both horns. Safety first! The original horns sounded very weak. Sickly, actually. "What are they doing to that poor goose?!?" :rolling: Used the Clark's high-and-low tone horn set, extra loud. (They're not really that loud...

Re: Does this sound like a starter solenoid to you?
Got the starter back today, all clean and shiny, and installed it before leaving work. They replaced the solenoid and a few wear parts. Cranked right up (which it always does cold), so at least that part is right. Will have to wait until I can get it out and warm it up to see if it's fixed.
