Re: Our First Corvair

:goodpost: A cylinder leak down test is a more advanced diagnostic procedure, and little more difficult to perform, because it requires some fabricated plumbing or a special test instrument, and a large capacity air compressor. Each cylinder to be tested is set at Top Dead Center (TDC) on the compre...

Re: Well she died today

Is there any voltage measured at the horn relay in the trunk, or at the cigarette lighter wire? If not, have you tried separating and inspecting, then re-seating the two halves of each multiconnector in the circuit path? The two plastic halves may look to be properly seated together, but there could...

Re: Northern Michigan '66 Monza

Adjusting the dwell is an ignition points gap issue associated with the number of degrees of rotation that the points remain closed (building a magnetic field in the ignition coil primary winding). The period, measured in degrees of cam rotation, during which the contact points remain closed is call...

Re: Northern Michigan '66 Monza

Do you still live in the Detroit area or someplace in northern Michigan? If you are near Detroit or Grand Rapids, there is a large, well-developed CORSA (Corvair Society of America) club chapter in the Detroit area, and another in western Michigan. https://www.corvair.org/images/oval_4c.jpg http://s...

Re: Made the plunge!

I have some questions I need help with. Should I post those here or start a new thread? You have pretty-much completed an introduction. I would recommend starting a new project thread under Member's Rides, Projects, and Builds http://www.corvairforum.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=52 http://www.friendso...

Re: Our New Project

https://youtu.be/RZFF5h3IJh4 Your engine does not look like a late model engine. The cooling fan design is normally seen on a 1962-1963 engine. Can you provide the serial number from your engine? That may help to confirm the nature of the engine that is installed in your 1965 Corvair. (Located to t...

Re: Dropped valve seat cont...

I've been reading back through your previous posts and developed a couple of questions: You stated that you had dropped three valve seats. Were all three in the same head? Are any of the dropped valve seats a repeat of the same valve seat in the same cylinder, or were they all different? In looking ...

Re: PG problem

It sounds like the low band (1st gear) of your two-speed transmission is slipping. Could be a number of things, from low transmission fluid level to worn friction surfaces on the low band. Check the fluid first, and also inspect the fluid for a brown discoloration (should be red) or burnt odor. See ...

Army-Navy Game’s Stunning National Anthem

I served in the U.S.Air Force for 24 years. Watching and listening to patriotic young Americans showing this kind of respect for ...
