Re: California, the land of no Vans

I would assume that the term "flat glass" or "flat glasser" (in the automotive world) refers to a body style that is more vertical and less-streamlined. A Corvair car is more streamlined, lower, and has less aerodynamic resistance to air than a truck or van, which is more vertica...

I managed to snag a copy of the show on Monday with my DirecTV DVR. I really enjoyed the interview and seeing your Corvair on television! :neener: :chevy: ::-):

Re: New member with 1966 Monza

 Welcome to the Corvair Forum as a new Corvair owner! Congratulations on your new acquisition! It looks like a really clean 4-door sedan. My name is also Brad and I just recently reentered the world of Corvair ownership after an almost twenty year absence with the purchase of a 1966 Corvair Co...

Re: intermittent radio

The fact that other circuits come on consistently when you turn on the key doesn't mean that much. They are different circuits with different wiring, different DC voltage taps and different ground paths. This is similar to turning off the main breaker in your house. All the lights would go off, and ...

Re: intermittent radio

:dontknow: If vibration (caused by driving the car, hitting bumps in the road, etc.) is triggering the intermittent power connection, then I assume that the radio used to stay on continuously if you were listening while the car was parked and stationary. A loose or corroded connection, perhaps at th...

Re: New to the site. I'm glad I found it.

I may have a lead for you on an early model (1961) 4-Door Sedan that looks to be low mileage and very clean. Paint is clean original, but yellow. (Since it is a very clean base, you can always have it repainted Tuxedo Black!) I found this listed on the CORSA Web site. INTERESTED? http://www.corvair....

Re: New to the site. I'm glad I found it.

Regarding shipping, considering the overall price for a clean Corvair that is JUST RIGHT... the cost of shipping by transport doesn't appear to be a "deal breaker". In my case I chose to travel from North Carolina to central Florida (Mostly by Greyhound Bus) to pick up my Corvair and drive...

:sad5: :dontknow: I thought I had seen everything in Corvairs -- Dune buggies, airplanes, inboard and outboard boats, V8-powered Corvairs (Front, Mid and Rear). But this is really new! And AMAZING. I have brought a few pictures over to intrigue other Corvair Forum fans. The construction and detail p...

Norm is right in a number of areas. I am sorry that we got into the "hijack mode" on your thread, and for some of my comments that were inappropriate. Posting on forums is new to me, and I am realizing that I made some mistakes along the way. I am trying to clean up my act and my entries. ...

Re: New to site....just bought a Spyder!

Thanks for the positive comments about my newest Corsa convertible. I'm not sure about the source of the wheels. The "SS" in the center might be a clue (SS396/SS350 Chevelle?). The tires are Goodyear RWL Eagle ST P195/70R14 (Front) and P235/60R14 (Rear). By the way, I've entered my Corvair...

Re: New Member

RE: 1960 Corvairs Norm, Thanks to your comments, I am becoming intrigued by 1960 Corvairs. A little research led me to a 1960 Caveman Corvairs group on Facebook, and I just finished reading about a 1960 Corvair in Bolivia that was literally saved from destruction by a very interesting man named Rich...

Re: New Member

I guess there are aspects to some classic cars that I just failed to see. I would have liked to have had the owner explain in his entry the appeal that the 1960 vintage has for him (kind of what you have done here). He talked a little about the original condition that he found the car in. I would ha...

Re: DANA C.O.P.O. Corvair shown on Fox Sports South TV.

Just to be certain that I have the right show, is it a 30 minute show called the LOKAR Car Show ? (FSSOHD, DirecTV channel 646) There are several Fox Sports South channels on DirecTV but scheduled programming is unspecified on the other channels on Monday at 4:00pm. I want to set my DVR to record th...
