Re: 65 spyder

Yes you have an LA built car and there were no 65 Spyders made. I personally found the earliest 65 model year Corvair made which was Pilot #3 and it was a Corsa turbo.

4.5" is ideal on a 7" wide rim.
3.5" is ideal on a 6" wide rim so it looks like you chose wisely.

Re: Mr Trump

But everyone seems to like their own representatives. It is always the others that should be thrown out. Not really sure if that was supposed to be a cryptic message. I am certainly not a fan of mine. Nor am I a fan of some of the other ones in other districts who are certainly there for themselves...

Re: Harvey Aluminium flywheel

For fastest acceleration from a stop you want the heavier flywheel. If you are road racing and worrying about faster acceleration out of a turn then go light flywheel. Corvair turbo cars benefit from the heavier weight...........even GM noticed this and that is the reason for the heavier pressure pl...

Re: Mr Trump

They need fresh blood in the Senate and the house. There are people there who have been there 20, 30, 40 years and accomplished nothing except lining their pockets. There is no reason for 80 and 90 year old people to be making decisions. They should have a mandatory retirement age and a cap on how m...

Re: 180 improvements

Boost increase via a larger carburetor is a HUGE improvement but must be made with the addition of a waste gate. Also improving the exhaust on the outlet side. Then you get into ignition controls such as a hotter ignition and a better boost retard system. Then if you plan on running it on pump gas y...

Re: 180 stainless exhaust info needed

I like Dynomax Ultra flows or Magnaflows. Both are a straight through design and can be had in stainless.

Re: 180 stainless exhaust info needed

Its true, only options are to make your own or have a fabrication shop make it. There are not enough turbo Corvairs out there to justify tooling and Corvair owners aren't typically willing to part with $1500 for an exhaust system.

Re: Max oil temp ?

I have a turbo. I also have a Dakota Digital oil temp gauge with the sensor mounted in the pan. With the stock 12 plate cooler the hottest I have seen was 240 degrees. Most of the time it hovers around 210-220 at warmer outside temperatures and driving on the highway. I run Brad Penn 10W30 which alr...

Re: Need plans for/or corv8 input shaft and adapter

You should look for Mike Levine. He is the Crown Corv8 guru. He lurks on the other forum as V8vair and on the Corvair Racers page on Facebook. He has a lot of stuff and knows what has to be done.

Re: 66 Corsa 140 with factory air conditioning

There seems to be quite a few of them out there. There are upwards of 30 of them accounted for. They were only made at Willow Run or LA. Rarest would be an LA build coupe. The LA build convertibles would be the rarest. The number supplied by Dave Newell was 153 produced and this was based on the tot...

Re: Dieseling

Without going through dramatics. I have found the 2 leading causes are idle speed too high OR idle mixture is too rich.
Try lowering the idle speed and/or leaning the mixture out and see how it responds.

Re: RB engine code

The build date on the body tag should read (if built in September) 09A, 09B, 09C or 09D.
My own car is 03D and the engine date code is 0324.

Re: RB engine code

I dont have to tell you how valuable and rare that RR code is. That is 66 Corsa with a/c only.
The 0915 RB case is definitely the original engine for your car.
RB is 65 and 66 Corsa 140 only.
