Re: 64 Corvair caught on fire bigtime! What do I do now?

Hey guys, Just wanted say hi. I hope everyone is doing awesome. I did have to sell the Corvair, my motorcycle and half my other stuff to move overseas. I sold the Corvair to a new Corvair enthusiast in Arizona and he was very happy to own it. Really nice guy. I miss it like crazy of course but there...

Re: 64 Corvair caught on fire bigtime! What do I do now?

Just a little update: The car is running great! I love this part of the Corvair experience! It has also been beautiful here and it really makes me happy to cruise around in the 64'

Hope everyone is having a great 2013 so far.

Re: 64 Corvair caught on fire bigtime! What do I do now?

Haha! Brad that is hilarious! That is exactly it. Thanks for your great post. I'm going to get some jack stands and try that out. Thanks for your post too Phil. I'll try to get a better look at those parts once I have the car up again. I'll replace as many of those worn down parts as I can. They don...

Re: 64 Corvair caught on fire bigtime! What do I do now?

Haha! I should have given you a little heads up that my mom is not a huge fan of the car. She just worries (fire, no seat belts, no taillight, that kinda stuff..) I'm doing some research on the shifting problem.... Any ideas on what could be causing it? The clutch pedal works great (thanks to Dave a...

Re: 64 Corvair caught on fire bigtime! What do I do now?

Haha! Hey guys! I keep a fire extinguisher between the two front seats at all times! Can't wait until I have that episode out of my head and can drive 100 yards without looking over my shoulder for flames and smoke. I pulled the starter out and Bill put some new bushings in it for me. Car is running...

Having some starter issues. Got her jacked up in the driveway. It's beautiful out here! Bill has stopped by a couple times this week (always good to see him!). He's guiding me along.

Thought you guys would get a kick out of the trash can front end protection system.

Re: 64 Corvair caught on fire bigtime! What do I do now?

Oh wow that's a cool pic next to the water! I just ordered a valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket and lug nuts from Rafee (thanks again to Crazy George!). Hopefully that will take care of some of the oil leaks and keep the wheels on the car! I'll post some pics once they come in and I put them on. I w...

Re: 64 Corvair caught on fire bigtime! What do I do now?

Hey Dave! Sorry, I just got this. How did it go? I have some time before starting this new job so I'd definately like to do some rides and stuff. I'm going to put an order in with Rafee tomorrow for a valve cover gasket and lug nuts courtesy of Crazy George (who isn't feeling to well up in Maine..) ...

Re: 64 Corvair caught on fire bigtime! What do I do now?

Hey Guys, Dave is 15 steps ahead of me :) Yes, the clutch cable did indeed give out on me as was coasting down the left turn lane a few blocks from my house. Some buddies helped me get it back. I haven't had time to take a good look because I'm putting in another (and hopefully my last for a while) ...
