Re: Helping Scott and the board
Thanks guys for helping out !!!!! I'm pretty sure this board has been a monthly expense to maintain and with everything else going up in price, what was once a small expense has become a bigger expense due to inflation eating away everyone's money. I noticed that there were 76 views of this thread a...

Helping Scott and the board
It has been a while since I got on my platform about helping Scott offset the cost of the board. YEs, he had added advertising but that does not come close to covering his cost. We all get on the board and probably never give the cost of operation any thought at all. I know I don't think about often...

Re: The Spousal Avoidance Unit build
A few times I have questioned why I like Corvairs. I remember my Dad having a 1961 coupe. Trying to picture it was always hard because I do not remember how long he had it but I don’t think it was very long. This picture is probably 1964 or 65 I found this today and just had to add it to my thread. 6...

Re: The Spousal Avoidance Unit build
In case you were wondering how the dry flaking was done, this little quick video shows me dry flaking the drivers door. The primer gun has clear lacquer in it. The strange looking gun ( flake gun for doing garage floors) is filled with flake. You can hear the short bursts of air throwing out the fla...

Re: The Spousal Avoidance Unit build
I have always had a thing for heavy metal flake. I used a .008 flake on the car to this point. The dry flake process allows me to use some heavier flake. Guess what I brought to the garage this morning Inside the jar lid is .015 flake against already sprayed .008 89EB1AD4-46C7-4DC8-9753-604AAF365C4F...

Re: The Spousal Avoidance Unit build
I changed the method of applying the metal flake on the Corvair. I have been using a wet application. Today I tried a dry flake application. Turns out to be a 2 person job. But it does work well. These pictures are not of finished product. The inside of the trunk lids was about 25% covered until tod...

Re: The Spousal Avoidance Unit build
Thanks Shane, I'm using Dupli Color Paint Shop lacquer. Instead of painting normally, I am fogging on the clear with the metal flake in the clear. It takes a lot more paint and time. I figure that I have about 75 to80% of the white color covered at this pint. MAybe 4 more coats of flake and and then...

Re: The Spousal Avoidance Unit build
I’m gonna take a couple of days off so I flipped the circuit breakers on the compressor and the hot water heater. Shut off the water , drained the pipes. When I turned around in the bathroom door, this is what I saw in the room with no lights on. 518A6DE5-A0CB-49F9-BAFD-8C1C517F30D1.jpeg Still more ...

Thanks for the encouragement. The Snowcaine metal flake just didn't have the look so I went with just gold metal flake. I'm hoping to have it on the road by spring
