Made it back today and I'm thoroughly happy with the condition of the engine The previous owner had it running before he decided to sell it (didn't ask why)
I remember that thread miniman82. Lots of good information on the type4rum. I still visit there for my other projects. I guess that's where my ideas are coming from. I even remember you miniman82 loved reading your input, project
Crazy somewhat but I caught this thread and thought I would mention , that I just found on ebay a match pair for $265.00 plus $52.00 s/h. p/n #3856728 and the 140 logs attached as well. They just shipped out today. I don't see much our way up in the Northeast but they are around if they don't hit ...
UNSAFE. Do you do your own machine work? I'm searching for someone to do some work on my 110hp heads after I disassemble the engine. I plan to shave the intake plenum and run individual runners. I also want to use larger cylinders.
Hi Folks. I've been buying parts for an engine rebuild(modification) I plan on doing. I've already purchased a '64 110HP engine, and now I'm shopping around for 140HP cylinder heads. I'm seeing a price range of $99-$199 for 140HP heads. What is a fair price for 140 cylinder heads nowadays? Thanks.
Thank you all for replying. I was away for the weekend with limited access to internet (can't believe that's possible in the US in this day and age), so I had to suffer through it. On a positive note "The PATRIOTS are going to the big dance" :rafman: :assault: :fro: I have a few jugs laying around ...
Thank you for responding UNSAFE. Today, I began my journey into the corvair world with the purchase of a running 1964 110hp motor. My plan is to take it apart, take some of measurements and most likely convert it to big bore. I'm no expert, but I got into this hobby for the fun and learning ...
Hello folks. What is the largest size cylinder bore that a Corvair case will accept? I ask because I've been doing research on engine modifications and discovered that the Big Bore configurations use VW jugs. I know you can purchase VW jugs as large as 105mm these days, so that started the gray ...
WOW !! CG. You're the epitome of a hard working man. Where do you find the time and energy to accomplish all this :not worthy: I wish I had half the energy you do. You must have a very understanding wife. I'm still trying to convince mine to let me buy a corvair ( in addition to my other two ...
Thank you all for the warm welcome. Looking forward to learning as much as I can (and having fun too) and thanks for the advice. I will take my time searching for the right toy :fingerscrossed: . Until then, I have a type4 big bore engine build going on to keep me occupied (practice for the big bore ...
Hello folks. New guy here in MA :fro: ,but not new to air cooled. I recently discovered corvairs while doing a search for air-cooled engines for my other German-made projects  and immediately fell in lust. Had I known about these wonderful cars earlier I probably would've owned one already. I ...
NICE!! Love the look George. I have a 1967 W fastback and a 1968 Karmann Ghia. I recently learned about corvairs while surfing the web this past weekend and immediately caught the bug. I've been searching for a LM corvair for the past week. No luck so far, but I'm a stubborn SOB (The right on will ...
