X2 for kart's post.
First image is from manual showing witness marts lining up with timing mark. I've put white paint on some so that a quick glance is all that is needed to inspect, even though the one shown is a rebuild with some kind of epoxy and I've never seen one of those fail.

Re: Loose Deep Valve Seats
I am not an automotive machinist.
Someone told me that Ray Sedman uses a .008" interference fit for replacement seats as well as for the deep seats.
I've read that motorcycle machinists often use .003' - .005" and I think some of the Corvair machinists may do that as well.

Ok, I can't argue that, but between GM and JCWhitney, GM never sold toilet paper oil filters.

Re: Coil and Resistance wire question
The old chevy stovebolts had the coil mounted vertically, but not the way some of you would think is correct. In the late 50's they flipped them over with the terminals on top. If I were to guess, they flipped them about the same time Dwell meters and Tachs became readily available. You needed to be...

Re: Alternator, voltage regulator, and Alt/Gen warning light issues
Regulator on the right is the original styl Reg with relays. The Reg on the left is the newer Semi-conductor style. The tab under the Reg is attached directly to Reg terminal #4. Terminal #4 is the Exciter Circuit connecting to the Gen Light and Ignition Switch. DO NOT GROUND THIS TAB. The Gen Light...

Re: New member finishing inherited project
The picture below from Clark's looks the same with right front as normal Primary position, with same linkage.
It looks in photo from 6T5VAIR that vacuum advance is connected to Ported Advance port on Secondary carb, which would make it ineffective in cruise.

Re: New Master Cylinder for Zonker
That HF bleeder is just a vacuum bleeder and I think it would be a lot simpler to just use a hand vacuum pump. In most cases you still have to wrap the bleeder valve threads with tape to keep from sucking air past the threads. I do like the looks of that auto-refill bottle. If it works as advertised...
