Re: Video of Corvair Society of America's 2020 Membership Meeting

Interesting comments, I was a member of CORSA in the mid 80s through the mid 90s. I always enjoyed the communique, but I live in Alaska and there wasn't a local club so i was on my own. At the time i lived in Fairbanks. I now live in Anchorage and there is no club support here either and I'm no lon...

It had a ‘64 diff in it already. I’m putting in a ‘64 posi diff and ‘64 4 spd trans.

Re: 1960 Monza Coupe

Some pics from the removal. Oh and the repaired/welded starter that was in it.
Good thing I had already bought a new high torque one from Clark’s.

Re: 1960 Monza Coupe

Holy crap. Sorry to hear/see that. Tranny shot too? Was there a seal leak? I hope someone didn't rebuild then forget to add fluid. Yes shift shaft seal and the snout was broken a little so it was leaking out of it as well. $4 part caused allot of $$$$ damage. Sent from my iPhone using Corvair Forum...

Re: 1960 Monza Coupe

Dropped the power pack tonight. Found the problem. Trans and diff were dry. Diff is toast.

Re: 1960 Monza Coupe

Well it’s up on the lift. Now I just need time to remove the drivetrain and replace the diff and trans. Re: 1960 Monza Coupe

I got the steering wheel on today. Per recommendation from Seth Emerson. I drilled out the holes in the wheel two sizes. And machined off the center ridge from the adapter.

Re: 1960 Monza Coupe

Yeah it’s got spacers on all four springs. I’ll have to replace them all.

Re: 1960 Monza Coupe

Tried to install a new steering wheel. That didn’t go as planned either. Apparently there are two different 6 hole bolt circles in the steering wheel Industry. The 6 hole GM pattern which the adapter has and the 6 hole MOMO pattern which the wheel has. IMG_5128.JPG IMG_5131.JPG IMG_5129.JPG Sent fr...

Re: 1960 Monza Coupe

Took a peak underneath last night. Kinda scary. I know the tanks are not easily found for the ‘60s. I’m worried.
