Re: Home Improvement Corvair

I didn't see the episode that smashed the Corvair because I don't watch that show anymore, but I did see the one that smashed the (I think) 55 Nomad. It was actually just a shell that they cleaned up for the episode and was supposed to be a real junk. They apparently got a ton of mail about that one.

Pretty cool to get a car almost the same as the one you had when you were younger. Looks nice. lot's of luck with it.

Very nice wagon. I love the look.

Best of luck with it. Maybe one day I will find one around here. I'd buy one that nice in a heartbeat.

Re: So the city has decided my Corvair is an "eyesore"

I can understand your anger. I had a car next to my driveway and was told to remove it or they would. I put it in the garage and no one knew where it went. I agree with Reid. All they want is their tax money. And I agree with unsafe on a neighbor turning you in as that is what happened in my case. p...

Re: Thoughts on a shipping Corvair cross country

I would not take the word of the owner of the car. One man's good condition may a junk for someone else. If you can't make the time or spend the money to go see the car you have a couple of choices. You can see if you can find someone that you may trust, at the very least get good quality pictures o...

Re: pensylvania bondo bucket

I am just blown away that anyone could sell a car like that and not feel guilty. I think I would be in jail about now if someone did that to me. I also have to say that you are something else to take it all in stride and go forth and do a super job on fixing it up. You should be proud of your work. ...

Re: Too many Corvairs?

:tu: azdave, when I lived in a gated community in Florida I to found the best way to deal with a HOA is to make sure they understand that you are playing by the rules and have nothing to hide. I like the camera idea a lot. I may have to do that for here in Illinois. I could keep a couple behind my h...

Re: for you 65 fans

I almost bought a new 65 Impala from Nickey Chevrolet, but decided on a Dodge Coronet big block instead. I did have a 65 Corvair in the early 70's. I bought it for $50 and all it needed was to straighten out the plug plug wires from being crossed and it ran like a top. I should have keep that one. P...

Re: Ever heard of the "Vaire Shop" in Frankfurt, Il.?

Larry Claypool is the owner there. He is a very knowledgeable man and will tell you the way it is. He is what I would call a perfectionist. I talked to him about doing an engine in a 65 Corvair. He will do that but you have to bring him the car and he will do all the removal, rebuild, break in and r...

Re: Too many Corvairs?

WOW< you folks have it good. 5 or 6 cars and a place to park them. City life infringes on things like that here.

Maybe I need a higher fence.

Peace
