Re: Helping Scott and the board

OK. Found it. Not at the bottom, but on the right side a few lines from the top. Donated 50.00. Well worth it.

Re: Best way to tow my 66 Monza?

I've always used a trailer and backed my '64 on to keep more weight on the tongue. Good Luck!

PG shift cable routing

Would someone post a photo of the under-dash area showing the routing of the Power Glide cable in relation to the E-brake cable? I know I should have taken a pic before I disassembled the cable to replace it, but I got ahead of myself. I've reinstalled that end of the new cable twice, but not certai...

Re: rear left brake over-adjusts

Thanks, VairsRule, for picking this up again. I had replaced both axles and bearings about 3,000 miles ago, so I'm figuring they're OK. When I get it fully on the road soon - this is Western New York and the wait for the salt to wash off the road sometimes takes a while - and I'll keep an eye on how...

Re: rear left brake over-adjusts

Sorry that I left this unresolved for so long. The only solution I could come up with was to grind off the left side adjuster flange. That did seem to solve the problem. Braking is mostly straight now, without the right side adjusting itself too much. I'll just need to adjust it the old way like bef...

Re: GET a GM Corvair shop manual for your car!!!

And make sure you're looking in the correct section of your manual. I always buy the manuals right after I buy a different car. But the procedure for removing the vent window from a convertible is a bit different than removing one from a sedan. I missed that the first time.

Re: rear left brake over-adjusts

So, after opening my thinking more than usual and inspecting everything, I decided to replace most of what I saw. The rear brake linings were wearing unevenly - more on the right than the left; the right brake line looked old and while removing it the line twisted; neither wheel cylinder appeared to...

Re: rear left brake over-adjusts

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll try the open minded approach, which I probably should have done long ago.

Glad you're feeling better 64Powerglide. I agree that stuff affects us a lot more now at 67 than it did at 37. Good luck.

rear left brake over-adjusts

During lasts year's driving season I had problems with my car pulling to the left when braking. I did a lot of work on the front brakes - new lines, new cylinders, and bleeding multiple times with no satisfactory results. I had installed new linings about 2,000 miles ago and they look good. Eventual...

I had those in the front springs of my '61 Biscayne in 1967. Probably from J C Whitney.

Re: Therapeutic effect of Corvairs - Back to work on the seats

So the surgery went well - a few days of discomfort, but the results are great! Still taking it easy, but I think I can twist hog rings. Thanks for the education on twisting. Pretty cool that you can see your work in the Gilmore museum. I need to get back there someday.
