Re: Cleaning out the body
James, the convertibles have an inner 'brace' inside the rocker. Dunno how far in you can see but it basically dissects the rocker from top to bottom longways giving the convertible extra support from flex. If you're looking from the front or back it goes from 12-6 o clock vertically.. If I remember...

Re: Cleaning out the body
I've always thought about attaching a chimney-sweep style brush to an extension and putting it on a drill. Send the brush into the rockers somehow, whether through an enlarged drain hole etc. and let it scrub everything up. Then send in the shop vac followed by the high pressure power washer or hose...

Best traffic stop line overheard, not used.
"Officer I thought pretty girls don't get tickets?"
"That's correct Ma'am. Sign here, the number for the court is on the top right."

Re: Refurbish Steering Wheel and dash
For the steering wheel I HIGHLY recommend getting a puller to remove it. Best $10 you'll spend. I'll Just tell you that my experience with redoing my wheel was pretty easy. Just like everything else take your time and pay attn to detail. I left the chrome rings on but taped them, trimming and tuckin...

Mike, THAT SUCKS! You did all you can already and the Corvair Community will I'm sure help any way possible. If the turd tries to register it or sell it, the VIN will come back as a hit Stolen with DMV and hopefully the boys in blue will show up before they split. Best of luck, hope it turns up in o...

I changed to silicone when installing a whole new system a few yrs ago. A little more $$ but keeps the moisture away and minorwheel cylinder leaks don't kill the paint. My 2cents

I'm sure that Bbodie will post links to the shop manual. First make sure you're timing is set. I made that rookie mistake before when replacing my dist. cap and rotor! Ensure the plug boots on the spark plug wires are tight and you're getting gas from the fuel pump. Keep trying and good luck!

Re: New to Corvair cars
Becky, Looks like a very nice start. Cool to hear from some females interested in the hobby! The car looks nice and solid. My only reservation or concern is that it looks like a 500 model which was the base 'vanilla' car. If power is an issue then this car most likely has a 95hp engine. It'll scoot ...
