Re: The inevitable happened.

Moving right along. Picking wheel and tire size. May be crazy but im almost thinking 12’s in the rear and 9’s up front. Going to be cutting out and flairing the fenders anyway so go big or go home? Hah.

Where did you get your angle adapter? I like the setup! And I really like the idea of the dual unit, I think I may try and find one of those.

Re: 67 Won't Idle

GUYS!!! I'm an IDIOT!!! well maybe not an idiot but inexperienced. Drove the car over to my dad's today and was having him take a look at it. Swapped the plugs just because, then double checked spark and it was practically non-existent, very very weak. So my dad pulled the cap of the distributor and...

Re: 67 Won't Idle

Took care of all the vacuum line issues, Got the car idling pretty decent thank you everyone!! :) verified the timing at the proper idle. Was just a bit low. Set it as close to 18* as I could. But now there's a pretty significant throttle lag for power when you stomp down on it under load. Bogs down...

Re: 67 Won't Idle

Ok, pcv info makes sense. I'll rig it up.

As far as the harmonic balancer goes, that makes sense too. I probably have one in my tubs of parts from other engines, but I'll look into a new one too. Like I said I just kind of pulled this motor and put it right on in my car. Thanks for catching it!

Re: 67 Won't Idle

Hey as far as Bob's book is concerned, he has them and I just picked one up from him. He was listing a deal on the other forum where you could buy some or all of his other books too. The two on carbs are fantastic. Ed Stevenson Great! I'll check it out! Connecting the existing PCV system to an afte...

Re: 67 Won't Idle

For the PCV fresh-air connections, you just have to fabricate. The picture I posted is a nice clean example though I think it's a really bad practice to chop up the factory PCV tube - they're in short supply and irreplaceable. good to know about not chopping it up, I'll figure something out :) my s...

Re: 67 Won't Idle

Current vacuum balance connection to PCV tee is correct. The PCV tube's side leg for that hose is not an open tube but rather a small drilled orifice. While it is technically a vacuum leak, it is a controlled vacuum leak and most of the time it's pulling in combustible crankcase blowby fumes. If th...

Re: 67 Won't Idle

Ok another thing, the vacuum balance tube has a line tying it to the crank case vent tube. then the vent tube just goes up to atmosphere, that is probably causing a leak in vacuum as well, I know originally it went into the stock air filter but I don't have that stock setup, never did. Should I just...

Re: 67 Won't Idle

The choke plates (choke butterfly valves) have minimal impact on the carburetors as long as the chokes remain wide open. Likewise, the fast idle cam and mechanism on the side of the carburetor would also remain disengaged. The idle speed setting screws on the two carburetors that are to be used as ...

Re: 67 Won't Idle

I just wanted to provide you with a little further clarification on the difference between the two vacuum ports on the side of the carburetor: Makes way more sense now! Thanks so much for everything! now I have some stuff to try out and play with. I'll have to see what I can do. Its really nice not...

Re: 67 Won't Idle

WOW!! seriously you guys are amazing! I just learned more in 10 minutes from you guys than an entire weekend and hours of research! So when you screw in the idle mixture screw the engine does die, so I'm pretty sure that passage is clear. I did pull the tank and clean it out, along with a new filter...
