Re: Doesn't want to fire.

Thanks for that terribleted. Will look at that. bbodies52, last fall there was a compression test done and they were all around 120-125 psi. The car seems to have a mind of its own. One day just after the new year, it just started and ran very well actually. Timed it correctly and all was good, then...

Doesn't want to fire.

Good day, Just asking for a quick thought. My '66 Monza 110 pg won't fire I have the pertronix 1 and the car spins over good but won't fire. There is 12v going to the coil, when the starter is engaged, drop to about 8.6 ish volts. There is spark coming out of the plug wires when I pull them and hold...

Re: just won't start

Thanks for your replies, and I finally got it. Not exactly sure what I did but all good now. Took out the plugs and inspected and cleaned up. No difference. Inspected plug wires and installed another set. Slightly better turning over of the engine. Seemed quicker. Kept trying to start and adjusting ...

Re: just won't start

Jerry, that's almost the way it seems. It just decided to no longer start. I had tried advancing the timing as you mention and no luck. Maybe I didn't advance enough. Will try again though. Joel, there are 2 streams of fuel and the chokes are closed. It's probably something simple, just haven't got ...

just won't start

Happy New Year!! I hope someone can offer a thought or 2. I have a '66 Monza 110 hp w/pg. The carbs have been rebuilt. The car was running and was just trying to sync everything. About 2 months ago, it just won't start. It will try to fire, sort of but it just won't catch. It is getting gas and ther...

Re: Its been awhile!!

Great job. Mine is the same colour, but in Calgary. Been thinking of pulling the engine out of mine and going over.

Re: Its been awhile!!

If you don't mind me asking, where abouts in Alberta are you? The wheels look sharp? Did you do the engine yourself?

Re: Idling issues

Just a question from me.
By any chance are you using a pertronix 2 electronic ignition?
I had the same issues in my 66 with the 110 pg and I removed that and put the points back in, now its almost seamless between neutral and drive.

Just a thought

Re: Ignition Question

Hmm, got me thinking know. Is there a fix for this aside from increasing the engine speed?

Re: Ignition Question

Hey there, trying to learn a lot the hard way, you mention "Petronix II has a known problem at low RPM when a PG Corvair is in drive." I haven't heard, what is the issue? It may make some sense.

Thanks

There is a nice show 'n shine at Gleniffer Lake around the middle August. Last year was rained out, but hopefully this year will be perfect.

Torque arm bushings.

Love reading all your posts. Need to ask question. What do you out there in the real world do to remove the torque arm bushings? I have a 66 monza 110. Is the a special tool or a home made remedy? Thanks so much
