Re: Great service from Corvair Ranch
I too have had good luck dealing with Jeff; I bought some stuff from him for the first time a year or two ago and made another order last fall. He's quick to respond through email and gets stuff out fast, and he knows his Corvairs and can make recommendations from experience.

Re: Any recent east coast transport experience
I've had a really hard time with brokers. Truckers will pick up the job and then drop it when something better comes along (they don't seem to want to drive up into Michigan, probably because it's up and out of the way). When I bought my Riviera back in '22, I hired a retired trucker with an ...

Re: Winter storage
Here in Michigan, I put some Stabil in the tank, some DampRid in the interior, vacuum the carpet and let it sit for 4-5 months. I might unhook the negative terminal of the battery, might not.

Re: Loose Quarter Windows on '65 Convertible
Thank you! It looks like maybe the rollers just wear out, and that might be my problem. It's not a pressing thing, and it might also be one of those times where I just let it ride: It's not anywhere near air or water tight, so I try not to get caught in the rain!

Loose Quarter Windows on '65 Convertible
Hey everyone,
I'm sure I'm not the only one who likes having parts ready before they disassemble something. My '65 convertible's rear quarter windows have about 1/2" fore-and-aft play. The car's never going to be anything but squeaky and rattly, but anything I can do to get rid of noise helps ...

Re: Speedometer Rebuild
I just had Rusty's Speedometer Service in Colorado rebuild the speedometer and make me a cable for my '63 T-Bird. He did a nice job and the price was (I think) reasonable. He may be worth a call to see if he can do a Corvair speedometer. I had it back in under two weeks.

Re: LCA Bushing Orientation
Thanks! I read some of your previous posts about that, and I do tighten the bushing with weight on the front end. What torque value do you use to tighten the camber nut? The manual says something like 110 ft./lbs., and that has to be a misprint. The last time I torqued it to 65 or 70.

I should have done this first, but I just watched one of Dave's videos and he discussed it at length. Thanks Dave, and thanks Rex.

LCA Bushing Orientation
I've had an issue with my LCA bushings on my '65 (they're pushing out the rubber and I'm getting a steel on steel squeak). I replaced a bad one that was 15 years old last fall and the new bushing is already toasted, so I'm double checking things.

Re: K47 - Oil Bath Precleaners - Definitive Article
Interesting stuff - I wish I could go back 10 years for a minute. I was wandering through a junkyard that was crushing out, and I stole the center air cleaner from a '65 with this option, along with the carbs and linkage. I did NOT, however, grab the oil bath air cleaner or any of the brackets ...

Hi Everyone,
I signed up a few weeks ago because it looks like it will be the place to be from now on! Back in 2007, I bought my '65 Corvair on a whim and signed up at corvaircenter.com in the wrong order! I should have bought a much better car, but I've learned a lot along the way. Since I become ...

It's been fun to watch the car's progress over the last few years. Congratulations on nearing the finish line!
