Re: LM drive train removal

Thank yall very much for the videos and checklist! I will take pictures before disassembly, however, there isn't much that can be done to this engine that hasn't already been done. It was left with no air cleaners or protection on it for 30 years in a field. The motor is also VERY locked up. I'm sti...

LM drive train removal

I am back after a long break and am ready to tinker with my Corvair again! I still haven't fully decided the fate of my car, but I want to at least try to restore my 140/4 speed drive train. I cannot find many quality videos on how to do so for an engine as unique as this. Can anyone provide info on...

Good Deal?

Friend of mine found this 1960 Sedan. Runs and drives but needs floors. Is $500 a good deal?

What are the mechanics of an lm to em drivetrain swap

I apologize for my extended period of inactivity. I've been considering swapping my 1967 140/4 speed into an em body, specifically a 64. What are the mechanics of this variety of swap, what adjustments would need to be made?

1960 Corvair 500/700 info

It is now clear to me that my 67 monza will not be drivable any time soon. I still plan to restore it. However, I will be getting my license in a little over a year and will need something to drive. I am looking into 1960 500/700 sedans. Can anyone offer info on this model year as well as how much i...

Lm wheel hubs

I'm trying to remove my rear wheel hubs because they are completely locked up. I will get some rebuilt hubs from Clark's and will exchange these hubs. I have to disconnect the emergency brake cable to remove it and can't figure out how. Could anyone offer some advice?

LM Axles

We've disassembled both brake drums and removed most of if not all of the brake components. We've unbolted the axle on one side and left the other side on. The transaxle isn't froze up. Neither side will turn. They will wiggle back and forth a bit but will not turn. Is there anything else that could...

Victory! We've about got the other side too. We've ordered some cheap roller tires and it should finally be off the trailer next weekend. Then the real work begins...

Thanks, we've about got it now. I will need to replace both drums though. I'll post pics once they are off.

Lm Brake Drums

The rear drums on my 67 WILL NOT come off. I am certain that this is the reason that my rear axles won't spin. I've sprayed penetrating fluid, I've hit on it with a hammer for hours upon hours, I've blasted it with a blowtorch, nothing works. Is there any other way to get them off? (Besides buying a...

Asbestos

I've been fooling with the door panels on my 67 and noticed that the insulation is a bit odd. I'm genuinely concerned it may be asbestos. I have no idea when the door panels where made, if they are repros, or if they are original. Does anyone know if they are/when Clark's stopped using asbestos?
