Re: Corvair powered buggy
I had a Meyers Tow'd with a built 140HP hooked to the VW transaxle by a Crown adapter and had ground clearance issues also. I reset the torsion bars up 1 spline and that helped but the problem I had was tearing out spider gears and ring & pinions in the VW axle. To much HP & Torque.

Re: Smokin' Deals!
I put one of these gas heaters in my 1st baja Bug in about 1970. On my way home from work one night I wondered what the orange glow was around the gauges! OH NO! FIRE in the trunk where the gas tank is!! I luckily got it out with minimal damage to the car.

Re: backwards Corvair terminology!
When I was VW mechanic in the 70's we called it a Flywheel seal and the crank pully had no seal just a close fit and spiral groves in the pully surface to channel the oil forward to the crankcase.

Sometimes the cable being a bit to long will cause the bounce cuz it is in a bind. Just take it out and carefully grind a 1/16 or so off the trans end and see what happens.
Good luck, beautiful car.

Re: Corvairs in Movies
I saw one tonight on TV. Episode # 5 of Pan Am originally aired on 10/23/11 showed a beautiful red Spyder for just a few seconds. It looked like a very nice EM with great paint. I do not have the tools to record and post. Sorry,

Re: Can't find the place to put in antifreeze
My friend in High School Armando was not mechanical but got a job at the Regal gas station. When a lady came in with her new Corvair 1962 Armando asked if she wanted her oil etc checked and she said yes. He figured out that engine was in the rear but did not know it was air cooled. He opened what he...

Re: Old cars and people......
Mart,
Yes the Morris was a funny little car but the one I remember most was Harvey Zenkers Morris pickup with LM 140 engine and transmission installed in the rear. It was Hugger Orange and was a cool little ride. No clue what happened to it that was in the early 70's in Eureka, CA. Wish I had a pic.

Re: I've finally got my 65 Corsa project to have fun with.
Some progress has been made on the project and we have decided to try and make the car an exceptional driver vs going for like new showroom show. The windows are out and the rust although there, is not as bad as it could have been. Only around the windows, no other metal on the car will need replaci...

I've finally got my 65 Corsa project to have fun with.
After a month of trying to close the deal I finally picked up my 1965 Corsa 140 project from the original owners Grandaughter. It was purchased new in August 1965 at John Geer Chevrolet here in Redding, CA. The car only had 2 options as far as I can tell, the tinted windshield and 4 speed trans. The...
