Re: Corvan doors question
Had 2 panel vans, a Greenbrier, and my butchered up three dollar Rampside. I put an engine in an 8 door Greenbrier for a guy (all many years ago). I did a complete engine rebuild for another Greenbrier owner a few years back, and that kind of reignited the Corvair bug for me. Said that to say this: ...

Re: U-Haul and Corvairs
I used a U-haul trailer to bring my '62 convertible home from Port St Lucie FL to St Pete FL. Somewhere under 200 miles. The U-Haul computer kept saying it "wasn't compatible". The store manager had common sense and my Corvair "identified" as a Ford Escape. I had to rent a U-Haul...

Re: Body Wire Harness Install Late Models
What no one said is the "tunnel harness" is in a panel that is under the center of the car. IIRC about 16 or so small hex head screws. Hopefully, you won't need that or have to replace it, as has been said fault is usually in connecters at one or both ends. Dennis

Re: Corvair Lakewood 61 - NL
It's been so long ago, but I remember something about having to polarize the generators when they had been out and were put back. Something about grounding a wire? I'm sure some first genner here knows. Dennis

Re: Max oil temp ?
Yeah, I cleaned the fan up and am planning on painting it. until reading posts here, and other Corvair sites, I never thought about fans exploding. Also didn't realize until this that those fans were magnesium. I've seen WWII aircraft remains where the magnesium rims dissolved and left tires looking...

Re: Max oil temp ?
The last Corvair engine I rebuilt, which had been in a restored Greenbrier van, well the restorers hadn't done so well on the engine. The cylinders were bare cast iron with a rust coating. The push rod tubes were also pretty rusty. I cleaned all of them up and gave all a good coat of black engine pa...

Re: Greenbrier name
Spelled with an e (as the Corvair Greenbrier is), it seems to be some famous resort. Spelled with a a, it is a thorny vine plant. Dennis

Re: Max oil temp ?
Interesting information about SMALLER push rod tubes and oil return. I just read an article on Corvair aircraft conversions. Someone in that field had come up with ALUMINUM push rod tubes. They had smaller internal size and there were issues with too much oil collecting and staying in the valve cove...

Re: Corvair project
I found a picture of a 12 late and cover by googling Corvair 12 plate cooler and cover I tried saving it, but it must be protected as I cant get it to upload. It was something that was originally for sale on a Corvair website. Dennis

Re: Corvair project
Here's what I remember from a LONG time ago. I once bought a whole 65 or 66 sedan for 10.00 just to get the 12 plate cooler and extra pulley (it was an automatic / air conditioned car. The 12 plate took a different cover (your part #5) and this cover had corners on it. it seems like it may have had ...
