Re: Clarks "Econo" valve covers

I've never had the manifolds on this 140, it's been with headers since I've put it in. Sorry I can't help you there.

Re: Clarks "Econo" valve covers

Thought I'd update. I have driven the car a few times since it's been warmer out. I checked the bolts and had to retighten the bottom ones. And since then they haven't leaked. And as for the guy I was talking about that stopped talking to me about the set he had... They came up for sale on a Corvair...

Re: Clarks "Econo" valve covers

Sorry I haven't updated. Haven't got to drive the car, but with it sitting there the small notch I made to hold the gasket has a leak. Not extensiv though, but is a leak no less. I'm thinking about using cork with some Indian Head shellac to seal it. That's what I used on my stock covers with no lea...

Re: Clarks "Econo" valve covers

I haven't drove the car to get it through it's heat cycles. Since there is a lot of salt on the roads and i'm not wanting to take it out in it. I've only let it warm up in the drive way, and no leaks as of yet. I used the blue silicone gaskets that Clarks sell.

Re: Clarks "Econo" valve covers

I got the headers off of Clark's and they came with a template, made it pretty nice so I didn't have to guess and have trial and error when cutting them. I'm taking it that's why the guy stopped talking to me. We where messaging back and forth on Facebook and the last question he asked me was if I w...

Clarks "Econo" valve covers

Was looking for a set of finned aluminum covers, and after seeing ones that cost $$$ or was getting outbid on a set and plus having someone stop talking to me cause I'm not a CORSA member. I took a look and seen Clarks had a few sets. So pulled the trigger on their Economy covers. They looked fairly...

Re: Are prices rising on our beloved cars?

I haven't looked at prices for a while. But if they are going up, then it will not be an enjoyable hobby anymore. For those who don't have much of an expandable income, the Corvair is a great classic car that one could afford and still have a nice looking car without breaking the bank. I use to be i...
