Re: John’s 65 sedan

Thanks 66vairguy. I was thinking some kind of undercoating would be the answer. I’m also thinking that in the remaining exposed areas of metal, I’ll coat with POR15 first, then the undercoating. Any additional touch-up and coverage will help protect and reduce road noise. A few weeks back I ordered ...

Re: 66 Corsa Project

:welcome2: This is a great forum. Very organized. Nice project car! Looks very solid. I replaced both lower quarters on my car recently (among everything else). The Clark’s panels worked great. I replaced a full panel on the driver’s side (and the battery tray) and it took a bit of work to line the ...

Re: John’s 65 sedan

Those are some great tips. The one thing that I did for now is to put the car back on the set of skates. That way I can skate it far over to the opposite wall of the garage. That extra distance really helps! I’m also thinking the foam sheet is something that can also work. Tom. I really like the loo...

Re: John’s 65 sedan

Thanks guys! Well, as far as not parking it next to any other car for years, the car is actually back in my garage and parked right beside my wife’s car, every day. And honestly, my biggest fear is simply my wife opening the passenger door of her car (when she’s the passenger) and hitting the car wi...

Re: '62 Monza convertible "Ralphie"

Good luck with the carb rebuild! Would love to see some photos of your work when you get into it. Curious what others may advise or share regarding the fuel pump location. My thought would be underneath and up front by the tank so the pump would push the fuel rather than pull. However, the stock pum...

Re: John’s 65 sedan

:ty: Thanks guys! This build has taken a lot of effort and I applaud the shop owner for all of his hard work. Today was the day to bring the Phoenix home! The coldest day of the year; however, the roads were dry and the sun was out. It feels great having the car back home and can’t wait to get back ...

Re: Overbore etc

So to add another question to this thread, with 0.030 overbore, if all else is equal, what would it seem that the new compression ratio would be? For my rebuild (it’s a ‘64 110 hp) at 0.040 over, I estimated that the compression ratio would increase from 9.25:1 to close to 9.5:1. That would seem to ...

Re: John’s 65 sedan

Thanks 66vairguy for the tip. Something I’ll definitely be mindful of when finishing out the Phoenix. It’s been a couple of weeks since the last update. Yesterday I received word that the shop has completed the work on the car. It’s been just about 4 months. I was so happy and made the trip to the s...

Re: John’s 65 sedan

I ordered the black. Can’t wait to get the graphics and install. Thank you guys! And thank you Scott for replying so quickly.

I checked online for the VHT clear. Looks like my local Autozone has it in stock. Yes! I can pick up a rattle can tomorrow. :partydance:

Re: John’s 65 sedan

As I’m waiting for the body work to finish, I thought that I could switch gears and do some additional “restoration” work. I decided to begin cleaning up my headlight bezels. I’ve acquired some mechanically solid ones in my travels and parts search, as I see Clark’s no longer sells these. I found an...

Re: John’s 65 sedan

Thanks!

The only other way I could “match” the light fawn is my original door pillars are that color. I might consider getting a color-match on those.

Your car looks really nice. The color looks great on the doors. Nice choice opposite of the blue.

Re: Lower windshield panel - replace or not?

By the looks of your picture, I’d say replace. It looks pretty rusted, especially on the driver’s side. I cut mine out and had to replace rusted out steel underneath. Then lay the new panel in on top. Key to doing it is before you weld it back in, lay in the cowl, and the hood. Make sure the gaps ar...
